Important analysis of what it is to be a reason for acting.
Enormously interesting. Excellent attempt to go beyond the more traditional principlist analyses of what it is to be a reason for acting

Flawed but intriguing magnum opus
I gather uncharacteristically, this book is unevenly clear, and the last chapter, dealing with the important topic of the indifference of independent alternatives is extremely hard to read. This is an extremely, perhaps excessively thorough exposition of an important thesis in ethics, particularism, and the discussion of how reasons may holistically change polarity and valency is intriguing. Dancy's analysis of moral reasons as favoring or disfavoring, and altered by enabling, disabling, attenuating and potentiating factors is fascinating and important.
