Sometimes I'd like to use my bike to discover new paths but it's difficult to know how to get back without using the phone GPS . I had a ram mount and smart phones are notorious with battery consumption so I thought of getting a power outlet.This one has a good material. Feels rigid and not cheap. Besides, main cable is wrapped for protection with easy replaceable fuse.I liked the on-off switch which is a must to not drain the battery if not used for extended amount of time.Another thing I liked is the wire can be split from the middle to form a battery tender cable so it's two in one function.I ride a Suzuki sv650s which has the handle bar pretty much crowded, though, managed to squeeze it perfectly on the brake stem.Will upload a picture.another thing to add is how easy it is now to inflate the tires without having to park next to my car or get a cord extension. this one has a 15 amp fuse and the air compressor used has a 20 amp fuse. works great.P.S : don't have a problem with the cover bouncing under the air flow because the sport bike is more aero dynamic. I recommend using a rubber band to keep the cover in place.P.S.S : one can use a Teflon to wrap it underneath the clip so it would be gentle and not to harm the handle bar.

Bought this unit for my 2012 Suzuki DL650A to charge my GSP and Phone. (Black as it matches the bike)Install was not hard but I found it best to remove some of the plastics and raise the tank a few inches to ease passing.About and hour to set it up and looks high quality both on the parts under the seat near the battery and the exposed sections you plug your USB and Cigarette into.Had a issue and called the company's help phone line and got someone on a Sunday who quickly diagnosed my issue and had a replacement part sent to me in a few days. Looks good, works well enough, just have to remember to turn if off when not in use. I do wish I could have gotten this wired in on my motorcycle in a manner that would have left it turned off automatically once the key was turned on the bike. If I could have had that done, it would make this a nearly perfect accessory for me (though I suppose I would still be left complaining slightly that the GPS is hard to see in bright light and impossible to hear any directions from when riding).This is a reasonably priced solution to getting a cigarette lighter port available for plugging in my GPS unit and it also offers the USB port that I could plug my smart phone into if I so choose. If I opted to use the phone as a GPS (Google's turn-by-turn directions aren't bad in that area, though I would need to wire in a set of headphones or use a set of bluetooth headphones mounted in the helmet if I wanted to go with that solution), using the USB port would be very handy.Admittedly I cheated a bit in getting this item installed as I had the dealership do my install for me when I had my bike in for a 15,000 mile service. Since that service work was going to involve getting other items (such as the tank on the bike) moved out of the way, it made it easier to get the cable run where it should be, rather than where I might otherwise have routed it to if left doing the job by myself.D-I-Y-er's could do this install themselves, but should be cautioned to be careful where you run the wires so you don't put them where the insulation would be worn down/off, or worse where it might be melted off/through. If you aren't sure about what you are doing, then get someone you trust to work on your motorcycle to do the install. Better safe then sorry. And do remember to turn the switch off when not in use so you don't run your battery down. :-)

This unit is exactly as pictured. Wiring is very easy and self explanatory, although it may require some disassembly of your bike to run the wiring.. There is really no way to short the system out and burn anything up. I should note that the instructions specifically instruct you to disassemble a part of the unit and make sure that an insulating clip is properly installed to isolate the positive and negative leads. This may be the source of shorts that some reviewers have talked about in the past. It appears that the company has addressed the issue. The unit is chromed plastic.It will not fool anyone into thinking it is a metal part. The cover seals well over the unit and I have been in several rain storms without any issue. There are several plastic sleeves that can be placed under the handlebar mounting loop in order to accommodate different diameter bars. Included is also a charging quick connect that has a proprietary end for use with other components from this manufacturer.
