Nice Book!
The book is informative, but don't expect just to read this and pass the exam. You will need to take many practice exams and make a test environment to get the complete knowledge.

Pretty solid book
I just took the exam yesterday (2/25), and found most of the topics to be very relevant to the test. There were a few question topics that were not covered in the book, but overall this was a good guide. It's not too dry and boring like some of the older MS Press books (I'm looking at you, MCSE 2000 materials), and gets straight to the point throughout. My only issue is that I would have liked more sample questions to go along with the book. I also found some of the chapter questions to be in the wrong place, such as the question topic being covered in the very next section, instead of the one you just finished. Otherwise, it was a worthwhile guide in conjunction with cbt nuggets.

Not going to teach you to pass the exam
This is a good book.It covers the topics of the 70-410 exam. It gives you a good, general overview of the topics. For an already established administrator, it may even fill in some small holes in your knowledge. For newcomers, it might touch a little to lightly on topics and only cause confusion. As an example -- while studying one objective, it may introduce a more advanced concept. This is due to the nature of the material, and not necessarily the fault of the author. As an example, early on in the book, there are many references to Group Policy, which is the last chapter of the book. Someone not familiar with group policy might get hung up, but someone familiar with group policy might pick up a small bit of information. Someone who has mastered group policy will find it a complete waste. If you are buying this book to help study for the 70-410 exam, please consider another one. While the content is good, it is a very, very high level and does not give you even half of what you need to know to pass the 70-410 exam. You won't find many topics in the book, such as VPN, RRAS, or advanced Hyper-V features. Since these topics make up a large portion of the exam, you'll be very surprised if you master the information in the book and then attempt to take the exam: you will fail.

Great book, good study guide.
This is a great book, I also have the 70-410 Server 2012 as well from same author. This book does exactly what it is supposed to; get you ready for the 70-410 exam. One thing that I wanted to mention and it blows my mind is how many basic spelling mistakes and just simple human typing errors are in here. Not sure how it passed proofreading and how they published it this way is just a mystery to me.I will still give it 4 stars, but every time I come across an error it sidetracks me and I wonder how this is possible.Other than that definitely recommended.

Many errors and missing content
I bought this book to study for the exam, but I think I may be just using this as reference at best. I've only made it to the end of objective 1.2 and I've located countless errors. Some of which are not corrected on the errata page they listed in the book. The thought experiment at the end of the objective 1.2 cannot be answered at this point and I'm going to assume it cannot be answered by the information in the rest of the book either. I understand that the book is directed at someone with prior experience in using Windows Server 2012, but I'd imagine that installing features via command line isn't a common practice for someone learning how to install and configure Server 2012. You only just introduced server core. Then asked how to install 6 Roles / Features via powershelI without introducing the command-let to do so.I haven't been far enough to give the book a full review, but as of right now I'm not happy. I gave it 3 stars because I haven't finished it, and some of the content included could be useful. (Once I fix it by comparing it to the errata page and my notes)Shame on Microsoft for putting their name on this.

Total disorganization and glaring errors
Totally disorganized and does not explain any concepts at all--it's just a series of step-by-step lists. I understand that it states clearly that it is for people who have experience, but it's not uncommon to have experience but not have the whole picture. Filling a book full of step-by-step lists is not very helpful because those can easily be looked up on a knowledge base. It would be nicer if the book also included more conceptual information to help fill in gaps in knowledge. The chapters are poorly organized. They are organized according to the exam objectives, which at first seems nice, but becomes a situation in which the book gives you instructions on how to do some task, but you need to know how to do 3 other tasks to accomplish it. For example, Group Policy is chapter 6, but is referred to many times prior to that. It's great if you have a perfect memory, but then why would you be reading this book?Additionally, there are plenty of errors in the text. In just about every chapter, there is at least one quiz question for which the printed answer is obviously incorrect. Here is the worst example I found:---Chapter 4, section 4.3 review, page 241, question 2:"Which of the following would be the correct FQDN for a resource record in a reverse lookup zone if the computer's IP address is 10.75.143.88?A. 88.143.75.10.in-addr.arpaB. 10.75.143.88.in-addr.arpaC. in-addr.arpa.88.143.75.10D. arpa.in-addr.10.75.143.88"Answers, Objective 4.3 review, page 246, question 2:"Correct answer: AA. ...B. Incorrect: striped volumes do not contain redundant data and therefore do not provide fault tolerance.C. ...D. ..."Chapter 4 is not even *ABOUT* storage solutions. The question does not refer to them in any way!---This book is nowhere near enough to pass the test with. I will be searching out other resources.

Do not match up to the exams, better options are available elsewhere
Bought 70-410, 70-411 and 70-412 books for Windows Server 2012 R2 Certification. As other reviewers have stated, The books cover a lot of content but are still very lacking and do not match up to the exam. I would say only about 50-60% of the exam content is covered. Disappointed considering these are the official Microsoft Press books for the exams. If you just used this book to study, you will likely fail the exam. I think there are better options out there for these exams, including a large amount of online content from Microsoft and 3rd parties. I would not recommend these books unless you already have very good knowledge of previous Windows Server environments, then these books would help you update your knowledge on Server 2012 R2

Good book. Clear and concise
Read this cover to cover. Good book. Clear and concise. Could use a few more diagrams to help explain certain topics, and can also be a bit dull in places, although that is obviously personal preference. You cannot, however, take away from the fact that this is a well written book. Some reviews on here criticise this book for not providing everything you need for the exam, although I think people do need to realise that this is a complex exam, not like your school exams. Microsoft do not expect to have to spoon feed you all the answers, you should take what you have read, and do labs, and also some further research on topics you are not clear on.This is a great read for someone who is taking a bridging exam or is brushing up on their knowledge of Server 2012 R2

Don't believe everything you read...
Although it skims over the basics quotes relating to Windows 8 rather than 2012 R2 such as "The requirements outlined in table 1-1 are not finalized. You might be able to get Windows Server 2008 to install on an computer that does not meet these specifications..." make me nervous about relying on the book (there isn't even a table 1-1!). There are also references to 2012 gotcha's which are no longer relevant after updates in 2012 R2 that have caused contradictions in my notes leading me to question everything I've learnt. I've read 3 70-410 books and this is definitely far inferior to the others.

I found reading / skim reading the fuller version of the book more useful.
I passed the 70-410 exam recently but after reading this a couple of times, I put it down and went back the main book, the official academic course. The latter is more expanded, and I don't think with Microsoft exams you can know anything less than the full set of information. I found reading / skim reading the fuller version of the book more useful.

ok.
It's okay, not enough on its own to pass the exam - you'll have to research the subject matter in more depth, to cover the exam comfortably. I want to give it a 2 but that feels harsh.
