Excellent vintage sound
These strings are perfect if you want a pure, vintage sound free of high, zingy harmonics.

the third string broke immediately during tuning.
Strings are not bad sound pleasant tinkling, of the minuses when installing the strings immediately broke the third string, it was not pleasant, good it got to the closer peg.

Excellent strings.
I like to experiment with different strings on my Blueridge acoustic guitar and thought I would try these. I have to say they are fantastic, it took me a short while to get used to the different look and feel (they look like electric guitar strings) but once they settle the tone is great and is different to bronze in that it is less zingy and more warm. I love them!

Acoustic strings - Sound great!!
Obviously the choice of strings and the sound you are after is always a very personal one. But having always used Ernie Ball etc I'd never tried these Martin ones. They tuned up very easily and have held their tension very well. Overall sound is bright without being too metallic. ... sparkly even!! I live them and they definitely live up to the retro tag. Great strings 👌

Mellow vintage sound
These really tamed things on my new Eastman E20 OO. The high end zing of coated bronze strings and woofy bass notes. These are just more laid back and more fundamental, for a nice vintage sound.I play fingerstyle, rags, blues, folk, that kind of think and they are great for that.I still see a place for standard 80/20 and PB strings on my dread - for strummed recording parts etc but happy with these on my small fingerstyle guitar. People say they sound terrible at first, they settle in yeah but sounded okay off the bat for me. Also people say they work best with mahogany but mine is rosewood. I actually think they make a lot of sound on rosewood as they tame some of the harmonic information which I sometimes hear as high end ‘zing’ which hurts my ears a bit. My guitar is Adi/rosewood and these work great. These are 11’s. Will get the guitar set up for a lower action then move back to 12’s.

Good strings
I bought one set of these and was impressed which prompted me to buy another set that never arrived. My review has no bearing on the quality of the strings which were great quality and had an amazing tone. My only thought on my next purchase that they got lost in the post. I would risk buying another set, a refund was given straight back promptly.
