Really sticks!
I had a roof leak around one of my skylights in a porch roof. I decided to strip the roof and use this product so as to never have this problem again. At almost 80 years old and working alone, this was not an easy job. I watched several You Tube videos which were highly instructive on how to apply this product.Yes, there was a learning curve but after several tries, I found myself growing more and more comfortable applying it.There is a specific sequence to applying it and I highly recommend watching the videos. Once you get it, there is no turning back. You’ll never do another roof without it.It is a great product and I wish I had been aware of it sooner…..and my roof leak problem has been solved thanks to this ice and water shield.

It makes a very weather tight fit
This was my first exposure to peel and stick and I have to stay, OMG, fantastic. The stuff is so sticky, you really can't put it down and then expect to pull it back up, but again, that's what you want is something that is so stuck it won't come back up by wind or rain before you get the top coat on. I only did this on the edges, but I sorta wish had done the whole roof with this stuff because it makes such a good tight seal. I would definitely buy again and recommend to others.

Was absolutely a killer product. Would rather have the older version .
I originally purchased Cobalt Ultra through Menards as a special order and I'm so glad it is now available off Amazon so I can get it in just a couple days.Prior to the pandemic we took off the shingles on a dormer and then covered the area with Cobalt Ultra with the expectation shingles would be going on shortly. Well, then came the pandemic, my roofer who was going to do the shingles dragged me on for months before finally saying he wasn't going to fulfill the job. A very long story short, the Cobalt Ultra went down two full years ago and in that time I never had a leak. The project is back up and going and about to get shingles now, but even after two years you can hardly see any age. The ink has faded on the logos, but wow, this is killer stuff. If you have a roof that you need to ensure is water proof and you aren't sure how fast you can get the shingles back on... absolutely buy this stuff and use it on the whole roof and not just edges and valleys. It may cost more but 100% worth it.[UPDATE] When I first bought this product before the pandemic it had black lettering on front. The stuff I ordered in 2022 has the blue lettering as pictured in the listing. It is still a great product but they have changed more than the color of the text:1) Biggest difference is that the peel off backing, while a lot easier to peel off, seems to be coated with a silicon release agent of some sort. When the product is rolled up this release agent is getting on the top surface of the underlayment. The old black stuff you could confidently stand on with an 8/12 pitch roof. This newer version is nearly impossible to stand on with the 8/12 pitch roof because of this slippery release agent.2) The new blue version is a little less sticky which actually isn't bad. It lets you make a mistake or two and peel it up to move if it hasn't been pressed hard yet.3) If you try to peel it off after it has been pressed firmly the material will delaminate fairly easily before it becomes unstuck. The older version would never delaminate but you had to pull really hard to get the adhesive to release.I'm still going to buy more, but on a steep roof pitch you have to plan for this new blue version. I find it VERY difficult to roll out two passes and create a 6ft wide pass of this material. You'll have to stay with tension on your safety rope the whole time you are over it.PLEASE bring back the old version FT Synthetics!
