Unusually well-made for a cat toy.
Generally all cat toys are hit and miss, depending on the individual cat. My cat is terrible at entertaining himself and isn't bothered by motor noises, and so any motorized toy I can turn on and keep him occupied is a win. Otherwise, it's me he's clawing at when he's hyper. While he isn't so much about actively playing with the PetSafe Cheese, he definitely likes it a lot. It keeps him mesmerized, and runs to stare at it when I turn it on. The perfect "cat TV."But more importantly, unlike other motorized cat toys I've tried, this one seems well-made. It appears rather durable, comparatively. The moving mice are slick plastic and shaped in a way that's not easy for them to hold onto. It means they're not really able to hold on and burn out the motor, which is not true of many motorized cat toys. He's destroyed other motorized toys like Hot Pursuit in a week by sitting on the wand while the motor struggled to keep going. All cat toys tend to eat through batteries, so invest in rechargeables. But another great feature of the cheese is that the door to its battery compartment does not have a screw. A ridiculous amount of cat toys that require batteries have doors that are held in with a screw, which makes it a chore to change the batteries all the time.Lastly, I love the feature that the toy has a mode that it will turn itself on for fifteen minutes every two hours over the course of six hours. It's a feature all of these toys should have.

Too noisy for my cats
This is a great idea, that's why I bought one. My 2 cats ran scared everytime the cheese poked out of the hole. I admit, my cats are truly scaredy cats, but the mechanism is sudden and loud!

Okay for kittens
Works fine, comes as pictured. May be good for kittens, but grown cats were easily bored with it. The mice don’t go back in the block very far so there’s no surprise when I pop back out.

Fun for you as well as your cat! $ we’ll spent!
My cat loves this thing! I just push the button, he hears it go on & BOOM he’s there! It’s worth every penny! Though it obviously depends on your cat. One of other cats likes to just sit & watch i, doesn’t actually play with it. BUT it did get even our old 17 year old cat to come take a few swipes at it which was very cute to see.All I have to say is “ you want to play with your cheese?” & my furbaby Maincoon knows it’s time for some fun! I’ve only tried the away play option once or twice but of course wasn’t in room to see if any of the 3 cats in house came to investigate.

Does not work as suggested by seller
The product should have a setting where it automaticallly turns on and runs for some minutes at various intervals throughout the day. The reason for buying this product was to have my cats engaged throughout the day when I'm not around. Since I got the product, I've been trying to get this to work and to date nothing. Now, it only works when I turn it on and it runs for a couple minutes and then stops and will not turn back on unless I do so. I sent a message to the Seller and received NO response. Absolutely disappointed and NEED a refund.

Not as fun as it looks.
I have 5 indoor cats and not one of them likes playing with this Petsafe Cheese Toy. It actually scares two of them as soon as the mice start moving in and out. The mice only poke out in two places - one on each side of the 'cheese'. It makes a loud grinding noise even when placed on the carpet and that is what scares my cats. I buy numerous toys for my cats to keep them entertained and everything has been a hit until it comes to this toy.My cats are all 'older' cats, so that might be part of the problem as the picture shows a kitten. By 'older' I mean between the ages 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. I will probably drop this off at our humane society as they might have a kitten or two that will play with it.

Keeps my cat occupied and engaged even when I’m out
My cat is your typical “spend $100 on me so I can ignore it and spend my time playing with a random piece of paper”. I was hesitant to spend more money on her, especially after buying a pricey, well-reviewed cat tower that she only climbs on if her treats are placed on it.However, this purchase was totally worth it. She loves playing with it, and she’ll even ty to play with it when it’s off. I especially like that it can be set to turn on a few times even when I’m at work. The only reason I don’t give it a full five stars is that tips over easily. It hasn’t affected its performance (yet) and since a mouse comes out on either side, my cat can still interact with it. But I feel it should either be weighted better, or at least have suction cups to keep it from tipping over so easily.Every cat is different, so your cat(s) may still ignore this. But for the price, its worth giving it a try.
