USB Type C Hub,Thinkcase USB 3.1 Type-C to 2-Ports USB3.0 Hub Adapter with USB-C Charging Port, the USB-C Charging Port ONLY Works for 2015 Apple New MacBook

I purchased this because I have a new 2015 Macbook with a single USB-C port, an iPhone, and an iPad. The product description says, "Can support charging/syncing" etc - but it DOES NOT WORK. If you plug in your iPhone (just your iPhone, not even your iPad or both at the same time), the phone goes in and out of charging/sync status.I wasted my money so you don't have to. If you want to use this as a non-charging hub, fine. But if you want power AND syncing, don't bother.

You can use this as EITHER a pass-through charger OR a way to connect USB type A devices to your Macbook. Attempting to use both functions at once results in the devices not working. I tried an Ethernet adapter and a Samsung DVD-R, and they only worked with the Macbook when power was disconnected from the wall. As soon as you connect the power, the Macbook will charge, but the devices no longer work. They are still detected but the DVD drive will not read and the Ethernet will not obtain a link.

This is a hub, not a charging hub. Charging through a type C hub must be technically complex which may be why so few do it well and it is expensive to buy. Other than the Apple versions I have yet to a find a charging hub that will work when plugged into external USB accessories while also plugged into an AC adapter.

The USB ports don't reliably connect or provide power, and I found that if I tried to use the USB ports at the same time as I plugged a USB-C cable in to also charge my macbook that the macbook wouldn't charge, and the usb ports would randomly drop out.

While it does the work like a hub, it slows down the charging process drastically. I would not recommend to buy this item to anyone who wants to use it on a regular basis.
