Purpose-built switching power supply
This back up power supply for the attic fan is a bit pricey, but it's made especially for the fan unit, is simple to connect, and keeps the fan running after the trees shade the solar panel in the afternoon, and on into the evening after the sun has gone down, but the attic is still hot. The only reason you wouldn't want this to go with your fan is if you did not have 120v. back up power available on site.

Adapter is poor. The solar fan works fine on solar power.
The adapter is poorly built. It does not last. I got one with my original unit it last less than a year. I bought a second one that also is dead after a year. I put the second one on a high end surge protector and even unplugged it for the winter months. The solar fan is nice and seems to work well. The adapter sucks. I would not recommend the adapter at all .

Solar Panel died after 1 year
This thing fixed my roof mounted attic fan after the solar panel died. Good quality on this adapter. Terrible quality on the solar panel.

Pricey and short lived
It was nice while it lasted, but expensive. Seems like some folks only got a month or a year out of their adapters. I got 3 years out of mine before it died. I liked the fact that it was able to run the fan even after the sun went down, which helped a lot with our upstairs and attic temperature. But it’s very expensive and I wish it had lasted longer. I doubt I’ll get another one, and will just go off of solar power from now on. I even ran a GFCI outlet and surge protector in my attic specifically for this thing, so now that effort seems wasted.

No solar
It seems to bypass solar panel on attic fan all together not like the described ad where it goes back and forth

Failed within a month
I thought the other reviews stating that this fails after a short time were one-offs maybe. Nope! This failed within a month ( and I am able to return it thankfully ). And when it fails, it blocks the solar panel from powering the fan. Sad to say, this is not a quality item. Don't buy it. Hopefully some other vendor can manufacture a version of this that works. ( And it wasn't thunderstorms, we haven't had any severe ones since this was installed ). Now, what to do about keeping it powered at night when the roof is still hot. Any ideas anyone ? Have you found custom wired solutions that work ?

It only last 15month even shorter!!!buyer be aware!
I never write a review but I really want to let everyone knows this product isn't ready for hot climates! We did install 2 of this inverter adapter back in 2019 November when we got our roof replaced and bought it from homedepot with solar fan altogether. One of them stop working in 2020 July before 12 months warranty. I then write a email to them and request them send me a new one. Guess what, now both adapters are stop working in May 2021 with hot Texas summer day. The adapter stop working when the attic temperature was high and entire unit was burning hot. The fan apparently won't even running when the adapter connects to it until we grab a ladder and lift it to hot attic and remove it from fan let it run by solar mode only. We try to reconnect it until it cools down but only for the replacement one would come back life when it's stays cooled then stop working again after a day. The other one just totally toasted and have no signs of any life. Very terrible product. Hope they would improve this and stands their products. Ours are out of warranty can't even claim to replace it. Very disappointed!
