BEST YOU WILL FIND!
WOW! BANG! ZOOM!These are the best I have found in the USA and comparable to the best I ever found when I lived in Chengdu China, the capital of the sichuan province for 3 years! I've been cooking Sichuan cuisine for 10 years now and these are the BOMB!Everything you want in Sichuan Numb pepper! Super fragrant, fresh, great color, and most of all...BAM!...These Immediately hit the pallet and start the numb and tingling you are looking for the moment they hit your mouth! No need to even chew! They are pricy, but numb pepper typically is here in the USA, and you definitely know where that money went when you buy these. All well opened pods with Very few to No Seeds. After buying a different one on Amazon that must be the worse I have ever had and writing a scathing review on them and getting Amazon to reimburse me for them, I bought these!I've been buying Amazon for years and have only written a handful of reviews but had to protect people from that terrible product! And now giving equal time to this incredible product! The other was one of the least expensive and has huge volume of sales and ironically Lots of good reviews. I can only assume those are from folks buying numb pepper for the first time who are impressed with the numb and tingling but have no idea what they are really missing out on.

The real thing
I spent 3 weeks in Sichuan Province, China, in 2019. The food was beyond amazing! On my return, I was looking for Sichuan Peppercorns. We have a local small Asian grocery, and I got a bag of them from there. They were disappointing – no buzz, and hard seeds in the shells. Recently, after hearing a story on BBC about Sichuan cuisine, I decided to try again. I looked through a lot of options on Amazon and chose these. I confess that I was influenced by the Panda on the labels as well as the reviews. I've used them a couple of times now. I need to work on my cooking skills with them, but they definitely have the flavor and the buzz, and no hard seeds, just the shells, as they should. Since the package had three largish spice bottles, I put two in the freezer and one in my spice cabinet.

Good value, no Best By date listed -- Potent!
UPDATE: I popped one of the berries in my mouth and chewed -- WOW. Intense tingling and numbing. Kind of lemony bitter though, which I assume will be different in a sauce. I'll find out.First, in response to the reviews who mention that these are cracked and will lose potency Sichuan Peppercorns are NOT actually a peppercorn, and are not related to the black peppercorns you are familiar with. They are a berry from the prickly ash tree, in the citrus family. When the berry dries, it opens up and releases an inedible seed, which is removed during processing. Also, the numbing is also part of the deal and apparently part of the appeal, which supposedly supresses the heat, allowing you to taste the other nuances of the spice.I haven't tried these yet, but while it seemed like a good value (and I can share a bottle with someone) I was dissapointed that the "Best By" date was listed as MM/DD/YYYY, rather than an actual date. So I have no idea when these were packed and how old they really are. I will try them this week, and will update my review to include the freshness and taste.

Wow!
I've had mapo tofu and mabo dofu before, and so I figured in all the times that I'd had it, I'd surely had Sichuan peppercorns. After eating these with my own homemade mapo tofu, I don't think I had, but WOW, what an experience! Turns out maybe a teaspoon was too much, as I'd mistakenly assumed that these peppercorns were to add heat to the dish, not to make my mouth buzz like it was trying to pick up TV reception. It was like having pop rocks in my mouth except everything tasted like chicken broth for an hour. There's really nothing like it, and if you like dishes like mapo tofu, you've got to get this and try it out.As far as the product itself goes, know these suckers are the real deal and they're going to give you the real, fresh, Sichuan peppercorn experience. I just recommend reading about what Sichuan peppercorns actually are and using them in a very small quantity as they are STRONG.

Real deal!!
I don't need salt so I tried to put these in my electric pepper grinder it was a fail. But I have ordered szechuan food quite a few times and ever had this sensation in my mouth. I feel like all the szechuan food does not really have real szechuan peppers in it. I am excited to use this in my cooking because this is the real deal and I'm really wondering what food tastes like what szechuan chicken is supposed to be like with these real peppers in it. I really love it
