These are wonderful sandals, I'm SO HAPPY to have finally found a durable rope shoe made exactly the same as traditional Japanese waraji! I don't know of any Roman sandal that had this lace configuration, this is a waraji through and through. My days of buying 10 pairs of grass rope sandals at a time and always carrying around a spare pair in case of breakage are over! I've noticed people talking about the slippery sole; if these follow the same rule as grass waraji, they need to be "seasoned", worn through some fine clay mud and gravel to create a natural sole and actually extend the lifespan. I will comment on this as they undergo this process.Edit: the soles don't hold mud like traditional waraji but they do break in and become less slippery. I have worn these all day every day for two weeks and they are as comfortable as the real thing.

I love these shoes. This is my 2nd pair. I love the ankle wrap design bc you can adjust them better. Unlike many ankle wrap sandals, these stay put so you onky have to tie them once and they stay all day. The only negative thing is the bottoms are really slick so you have to be careful indoors or on a slick floor. I solved this by adding a few rows of clear silicone grout to the bottoms. I walked over the beaches and jungles of Costa Rica in these and they lasted and never looked bad. Can't wait to get more colours!

these have been catchin' eyes... wore em on a 8+ mile hike; no problem... i have semi sensitive feet that are prone to blister; these are beyond expectations worth every penny!after a week, its like a new life style

I love these sandals. Almost everything about them; they collect dirt but they are rope. I get complements all the time on them. I want all the styles.

ordered my regular size but they are too long and floppy. Need to get a size smaller. Unfortunately I have to pay for shipping to return them. Rope is soft and they are good quality. Feels like being barefoot.

I adore the way these things look!! They are quite comfortable too and the rope straps haven't been abrasive on my legs at all- although I haven't worn them for a full day out quite yet. I do worry about the traction, it's a bit slippy slidey. They aren't trekking sandals but still definitely adorable enough to wear to a beach party.
