Efficient water timer at a reasonable price

Just bought this to replace my original Hozelock irrigation timer, which finally gave up the ghost after 8 years. Was a bit hesitant about this new model when I saw that it uses 2 x AA batteries instead of the 2 x "C" cells that my old model used, (and which also lasted 8 years!). I just installed the new model and it is working fine, but time will tell how long a pair of AA's will last. Note - the English, German and Spanish instructions I downloaded from Hozelock's web site state to change them every 12 months whereas the French version states 8 months. However there is a low battery warning light which should help.However a nice surprise is that the version I received has a new feature that is not mentioned in Amazon's specifications: the ability to set a delayed start time, in multiples of 1 hour from when you set your chosen timer program. The old models did not have this function which meant that you had to set the program at the actual time that you wanted watering to start. The programs are also a lot easier to set, and there is now a manual override to start and stop watering outside the set program times, without disturbing the programming.

Good value, does the job. The instructions are bit vague, took sum time to set up, works very well.

Bought this to replace worn-out older AC1 version. It functions perfectly in its multiple modes of operation, but with just 2 x AA batteries it does not last a summer. I ran it on the 5min per 12 hrs programme and left it to water the garden plants while we went on holiday, which it did with no problem. However it failed to operate this morning due to the batteries having discharged (1.35V FROM 1.6V) over the 27 days since I bought and installed it. The AC1, with fully charged 2x1.5V C/LR14 batteries, was good for 2 summers before the batteries had to be replaced - this newer version didn't last 1 month![21 Sept 2024] Batteries are flat again, confirming fault with operation of the device itself. Amazon's 1 month 'window' for returns has expired, otherwise I would have returned it to get a refund. What a waste of money! I would have degraded rating to 0 stars, but 1 star is the minimum!

Easy to use, was able to leave my tomatoes whilst on holidays for a fortnight

Bought this to replace an old Hozelock timer which was still working but was a pain to use. This new one has a slide off back cover so I don’t need to find the correct size screwdriver to unscrew the back. It uses standard size batteries unlike the old one which took the large C batteries. It has a much simpler timing system which means I will no longer require my annual scrabbling around for the manual to work out how to operate. Overall a huge improvement with one star knocked off as the timer seems inexplicably very large.

Fitted to a water butt this timer provides a very effective and eco friendly method of keeping plants watered. Easy to set up and so far, very reliable.

Bewässert 2x täglich das Gewächshaus. Ein wenig mehr Flexibilität bei den Zeitwerten ist sinnvoll. Wozu irgendwelche Zeitmöglichkeiten aller 3, oder 7 Tage usw? Dafür wiederholen sich die max. Tagesminuten in unterschiedlichen Kombinationen.Intuitiv zu bedienen geht nicht, da muss man die Anleitung lesen und verstehen.

Dimensioni contenute e facile da usare.Ottimo se necessiti installarne più d'uno in batteria, fianco a fianco.Non è necessario essere programmatori esperti per l'uso e la regolazione.Recensioni molto buone dovrebbe durare più della media. Speriamo.
