Leaves you wanting more...in a good way!
I'm not a huge comic fan and have only read a few graphic novels (Watchmen and Preacher), so I cannot base my review on a breadth and depth of genre knowledge. In other words, I'm not a expert. I'm just a normal dude with an open mind and an eclectic taste in books and movies. That said, here goes my review:The artwork caught my attention right away. There is something about it that seems really cool and really "right" for the story. The writing must've been good too, because I was sucked in to the story fairly quickly and couldn't stop reading. I thought the characters were well developed and there were surprises, some of which were unexpectedly dark. When I finished the last page, I was left wanting more and truly wanted to find out what happens next.Don't be fooled by the cute teddy bear on the cover. This is not for young children. I don't know at what age the average child would be able to appreciate this and/or not be too disturbed, but I believe another reviewer said age 8 and that seems reasonable. I'm 35 and don't yet have children (working on it), so all I can say with reasonable certainty is that this book is safe and enjoyable for someone in their thirties with tastes similar to mine. However, thinking back to when I was ten years old, I would've been pysched to read something like this.I look forward to buying the next book when it comes out. I hope I don't have to wait too long! (NOTE: This book hit #2 on the NY Times Best Seller list for Paperback Graphic Novel sales as of May 8. If you are a collector, this might be something you want to get your hands on!)

Amazing graphics, great story!
The Stuff of Lefend is like the darker side of Toy Story. It has everything from great artwork and a solid story line to some of the most random adventures that the team must work together to survive. I enjoyed this read and highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciated beautiful art work.

Stars taken off for shipping.
The book itself is great. Good story and amazing art work. And arrived quick. However I'm disappointed in the shipping. A couple of the corners are damaged, the top of the spine is torn, and there's a dent/tear on the side.Although these are minor blemishes, this is still a let down. I feel like a sheet of bubble wrap could have easily prevent this. This had happened on every book I have purchased through amazon.

Good Stuff
It's cute--thought it would be a little darker though. I love the plot, the characters, the dialogue/writing, and the artwork. Just purchased Book 2; can't wait to read it.

A cross between Toy story and alice in wonderland!(with guns!)
A cross between Toy story and alice in wonderland!(with guns!) The Nazi boogeyman captures a boy and his toys have to save him. When the toys go into the closet they are transformed into the true things they are and fight through deadly board games, against discarded toys, and of course the boogeyman himself. this is a really cool book, and is worth checking out! Collects Volume one : Issues 1 - 4. Also includes bonus "The Colonel's War Journal" and Bonus Sketch-Book.

An excellent story marred by poor production value
It pains me to give this book anything short of a five-star review. The story is compelling and well-executed, the characters have depth, and the art is lush. Stuff of Legend reads like a true labor of love by talented creators at the peak of their craft. After only a few pages, I became an immediate fan of both Mike Raicht and Charles Paul Wilson III.Unfortunately, the production value of this paperback is pretty awful. Midway through my first reading of my brand new copy, the glue holding the pages to the spine gave way, completely separating the cover from the contents of the book.I also own the second volume (again, the content is beyond reproach), which suffered from similarly disappointing construction. While turning the page, the spine cracked, spilling most of the pages all over my lap.I'd recommend this series to just about anyone, but I suggest trying to find the individual issues of the comic book. Th3rd World Studios really blew this collected edition, and I'll have to think twice before spending any more money on one of their books.
