A great addition to our home library!

First, I knew that it didn't seem right, and it turns out it is not the complete Institutes. Okay, we all got taken a little. On the other hand, WHO CARES!!!!? With all due respect to Christians, particularly Calvinists and scholars, I have, as someone with a lifelong obsession with history, and whose particular interest in 16th Century Europe and the reader of many books on the subject, including theological works, to say, whatever his reputation, however important he is to the story, however bright he was, however much a stylist - I wanted to shoot myself in the head from the first chapter. If I could go back in time and they were lighting up Michael Servetus I'd jump up and wrap my arms around him rather than read this. Oh my God (pun intended), it's just so tedious. I tried one chapter a week. Couldn't do it. I tried skimming. Didn't get better. To be fair, if I was a believer rather than just interested, maybe I'd find something. But, to be fair to my side, I have read a lot of religious works and I have read a great deal about him, but never do I remember finding any of it as grindingly painful as this. He is no Martin Luther. He is a boring, boring man. I will not give it 1 star only out of some loyalty to history. But two's the limit.

This edition is listed on Amazon as the paperback version of The Institutes of The Christian Religion. However, this is only volume 1 of 4 and that is not noted anywhere.
