Book ReviewThis slim children's book covers some very interesting stories around food, art, architecture, dance, music and folktales across Temples in India. Many of us would have visited myriad temples and been often struck by their beauty, the deities and the aura of worship and piety.The author a journalist covers temples from all over India which she found interesting, associates with chidhood visits and made her appreciate art forms and stories of devotion and human compassion. She rightly says "Temples are some of the earliest forms of museums in the world, for in these sacred spaces we can see and understand the past of a region, its people, culture and traditions. They have survived over thousands of years, holding their might over weather and war."In reading the book I discovered I had been to quite a few and yet there are so many more interesting temples to cover. The writing style is simple and prosaic. Illustrations are.ok. But there is always google to check out.pics if you want to.

Nice book to have if you go on temple visits.. want to know about rituals

This delightful little book is not just for children but adults as well. It has a fund of information, quirky as well as straight, about the temples and the deities herein. Anyone wishing to visit any of these shrines would gain a great deal by reading this book beforehand. My favourite segments are the ones on temple cuisine and the arts and crafts associated with temples. Temple Tales has a bit of everything, engaging stories, humour, and a fund of unusual information. Great read! Janaki Venkataraman

The author has done a great deal of research and written in a simple and accessible manner. We need more books like this to remind our generation about our ancient culture.

I love the fact that the author has collected some unique articles regarding our own mythology.
