Amazing Book
One of the best books I have read regarding the origins of life on earth. I feel as though I went through some sort of spiritual awakening. This is one of those books that must be read by every black person. African Philosophy and science are two sides of the same coin, the original Scientists were African.

A seminal piece for anyone who is aspiring to add incredible knowledge, written with such clarity and researched to give the reader the ability to be confident about the spiritual and cultural power of the ancient, yet the writer brings a contemporary reflection throughout. Outstanding!!!

It's consolidated my understanding of African spirituality and has allowed me to link Kemitic/Egyptian spirituality or maat to other spiritual systems in Africa.

Enlightening
Spirituality before Religions is a book for people who are interested in the earliest formations of spiritual thought and practise by humans. It takes you on a linear journey through the scientific and theological beginnings of the universe, to the creation of Earth and life on this magical planet. Think Brian Cox meets, David Attenborough meets, Wakanda 🙅🏾♀️.Solely focused on Africa and in particular ancient Kemet (Egypt) and the original peoples that formed this civilisation. At the heart of their spiritual understanding and practise was nature, "...the hidden and revealed forces of the nature of agriculture, became the basis for humanity's wisdom of the cycle of spiritual growth and ascension." I found this to be quite pertinent considering our current "sustainability" era. It was also quite interesting to know that the sun was the first entity to be worshipped. "Africans worshipped the life-giving energies that emanated from the sun, not the celestial body." Which makes sense when you think about the impact and subsequent formation of life from the sun's light, sound and heat energy here on Earth. If like me, you love ancient Egyptian history, this book will not disappoint! It breaks down who the original people were, their dynasties, the invasions and worldwide influence of this rich African culture. A well researched, excellent body of work by the amazing Professor Kaba Kamene.
