GraphtechBlack Tusq Xl - Fender Jazz Bass 4 String PT-1215-00

I've purchased several of these Tusq XLs for my Mexican Fender Jazz basses - swapping the stock nut for the Tusq gets an immediate and well-rounded improvement in tone, from warmer lows to brighter highs.My main reason for using these nuts is the ease of replacing the stock nut and the ease of customising my basses with them. I used them on two projects, both of which (in my humble opinion) were huge successes. The Tusq XL in the pic looks slightly beat-up because it is. I modified a Jazz bass to be strung B-E-A-D, with a .125 B string - the Tusq XL allows setting of string height at the nut with precision (with a good set of nut files, obviously) - over the course of a week or so I filed the nut down to what gave the perfect string height and the bass plays so nicely. Similarly, I converted a fretted Jazz to fretless and dialed in the string height with he Tusq XL.So for a stock replacement or a custom project, these are the nuts for the job - highly recommended.
