Scala Women's Cotton Hat with Inner Drawstring and Upf 50+ Rating

The band is adjustable, not the crown. So no matter how small your head circumference is (mine is 20 1/2”), the crown won’t have a “squeezed” look like my petite Walleroo. Also, sun protection is great. I can’t wear hats. I really look awful in them. This one works well for me with the brim up or down. Was worried the big brim model would be too big for my small head but it’s not. I have the linen color - perfect. Sewed some loops on where the brim starts and threaded a scarf through to personalize it. Haven’t had it in big wind, but it holds on well so far. Will probably add a chin strap with toggle at some point. Packs well. Came quickly. All this and the price was right! Perfect hat! Don’t hesitate.Update: I took this hat with me on trips to Bermuda and Ensenada - walking tours, observation deck of a ship, beach day, trip up the mountains in a Hum V. Great sun protection. Shaded my eyes well on the beach. Travels well. Looks good even after having been packed (it does wrinkle a bit though - Downey de-wrinkle spray worked well). Folded to fit into my decent-sized but not over-sized handbag when I was indoors. It held on fairly well in the wind, but a sudden, strong gust nearly blew it off. I'm definitely going to add a chinstrap. When the hat became soiled after a very dusty off road experience, I was able to remove the spots with a very moist washcloth. Still love this hat. My favorite, in fact. Definitely recommend.

Fit is perfect. The look with the upswept brim is perfect. The sun protection is also perfect due to the expanse of brim. It’s lightweight and packable. It is adjustable. My only suggestion is ties to keep it in place, and I may add those myself. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it.

this is one of the most flattering hats I ever had. I have a 3 inch brim on the ones I've ordered a few times and now they're making them 2 inches on the brim, which is not large enough for me to keep the sun off my face , I hope they reconsider making them with a 3 inch brim so I could purchase more. I've never had a hat more flattering on me with the best quality.

Perfect for my larger head size/shape, plus I have lots of long, thick, curly hair. It wouldn't work if I wore my hair up in a bun or chignon, but I don't expect that I will do that while wearing this hat. It would work with a low pony tail or side braids, but might not work well if you have large clips, barrettes, hair sticks or a headband in place, that sit up high on the crown or top, of your head.Covers ears and shades forehead, neck and nose from the sun. Seems to stay on well, on my head (though I have not worn it in very high winds or heavy, torrential rain). Brim can be worn turned up all around, as shown in most pixc here on Amazon, or worn flipped flat or down, as I wear it, which I think looks nicer when your hair is worn down and also gives you more coverage/shade.This charcoal color is blackish, with a grey undertone. Truly more of a faded, worn black or true charcoal, not jet black and not intense or deep in color at all, it was exactly as I expected and what I wanted when I ordered it.Not stiff, but soft and flexible and very comfortable. More casual than formal, in my opinion but still dressy enough for wearing with nicer sun dresses and skirts.The only negative is that this hat has the same problem in common with all summer hats I've seen recently: all of them have white linings in the crown, or white hatbands that touch your face or forehead. If you wear powder or foundation and your face or your head sweats, then you will transfer some of your face makeup to the inside white lining of this hat immediately, on the first wearing. This hat states it is washable, but since it is new I have not tried doing that yet.My previous Scala hats had tags which stated spot clean only, hand wash only and most said do not machine dry, or dry clean. They turned out well when I followed the care instructions, plus lasted for years despite lots of abuse and rolling, smushing and cramming into small spaces while traveling; being rained on, dropped in water puddles while running along a busy street, etc.Great hat for the price. Stylish, fits well and will coordinate with most of my summer clothes.It will fold up and fit in tote, backpack or carry one.
