Best kitchen product I have purchased in years.
Best kitchen product I have purchased in years. Boils water super fast and has an auto shut off. As a tea drinker this is super efficient. The price is also an excellent price for the value. High quality, super fast hot water and looks good on the counter.

Wanted to replaced 10+ year old Krups electric kettle.
UPDATE April 2025: 5 stars for customer service. They said the rust spots are from my water, and they recommend I descale the kettle with vinegar more frequently. I strongly recommend you use distilled water with it if you can. I don't know why I never tasted rust and never found rust spots in my older stainless steel + plastic Krups electric kettle. Maybe our tap water got more iron in it. If you have a problem, definitely contact Krups directly and don't put a low review on amazon.Customer service has now repaired or replaced it four times, even from France, and they say that the rust spots, rust taste, etc are due entirely to the minerals in my water. This last time, it is a brand new kettle. I always use a Brita filter pitcher, and I never had this problem with the old Krups stainless steel + plastic kettle (that one lasted over 10 years, maybe over 15 years, until it leaked from the plastic window). And I wasn't even using a Brita filter most of that time. I endured the weird smells coming off the materials at first. In the last kettle I had, I can see the rust spots on the inside bottom of the february replacement, and I can smell rust in the boiled water. Why can't someone make an electric kettle out of glass and/or stainless steel without glue, silicone, and a weird seam? I didn't need the LED to be incorporated into the kettle, and yet we see this design all over amazon.UPDATE February 2025: This did not go as smoothly as with the old kettle, but I have a good kettle now. About a year of light use after I got this kettle, it started leaking. Aramis at Krups sent a prepaid label, and I shipped the kettle to a small appliance repair person in the region. It returned smelling a little funny, but after boiling a few kettles of water, I was able to use it, and it worked well. This year (2025) I saw brown rust spots on the inside at the edge (not white scale). I contacted Krups customer service, and I said I wanted a new kettle. Aramis promptly had a new kettle shipped from France! I received it yesterday, and it seems to be working well and doesn't smell funny at all. Great warranty service. February 2025.Previous review:Wow, my last Krups electric kettle lasted well over 10 years - I lost track. It was used daily but only by 1 person in the home. That one was a mixture of stainless steel (exterior and interior) and plastic. It had a window on each side of plastic that showed the water level, and on one side it finall failed & leaked.I've had this a few days - good enough so far. I was glad to find an electric kettle where the body is mostly glass. I like how Krups says they will repair items, too. I wish I could find one made in the US.Pros:- Heats water quickly- I didn't buy it for LED lighted water, tho thru the glass, it turned out to be fun to watch- Sturdy grounded plug (old one was not)- Switch and lid release work well- Water tastes good- Good pouringCons:- Plastic smell for days. I used more than 3 fills of water to mostly get rid of it. I don't taste it in the water now; it's a faint smell. I recommend using the 2 teaspoons of baking soda sooner rather than later. If you see "pitting" in the bottom following baking soda, follow up with a bit of vinegar standing in there a while, and those will disappear. You might leave it full of water and sitting out overnight (not heating obviously).- The little filter had no instructions on how to remove it. I gently pried it out with my fingernail.

great features, heats water fast and can be touched without getting burned
This works very nicely, it heats up quickly and I love how I can go from a low of 104 degrees, meaning I can use it for yeast, to boiling. I almost always use it at the 195 degree setting for coffee, sometimes one lower for hot chocolate. Also heats quickly enough that if you are in a rush for pasta, you can boil the water first in the kettle then pour it (carefully) into your pot to get a head start. The temperature is large and easy to read, and changes in real time while it heats up so that you can stop it at any temp along the way by removing it from the base. It has a 30-minute stay warm function, which is nice but would be even nicer if it were an hour or two. I LOVE how the double wall allows me to put a hand on the outside for stability without burning myself - it gets warm, but not hot to the touch. The spout is ok, sometimes it dribbles a little if you don't have it at the exact right angle. My previous electric kettle had a more accurate pour, but this one isn't bad. The lid will lift a little more manually for easier cleaning, although it stays angled and is not removable. I make sure to dry out the insides after using it (after allowing it to cool down) so that water doesn't sit in there and get disgusting, as it does in all kettles that aren't emptied of water and cleaned frequently. After about a month of use once daily, it started to get some scaling - easily cleaned with white vinegar per instructions in manual. I wanted to knock one star off because of the shiny black finish, which I find rather dated and cheap looking. If it were matte black (or gray or silver tone), it would be much more up to date in appearance and pleasant to look at. But that's just a visual preference, and the function of this electric kettle is deserving of five stars.

Nice kettle with some cool features
The media could not be loaded. Our old countertop kettle died after 5 years so it was time for a new one. Krups is a trusted brand and Prime deal days had this on sale so I decided to give it a try. The cord storage in the base keeps the cord short and out of the way if you don’t want it all over your counter. It boils a whole kettle in under 3 minutes and half the kettle took about 30 seconds. I use it for tea and mushroom coffee and also for noodles. The presets work for me but if you need a more exact temp, the button on the handle allows you to stop the kettle at any time and choose your own temp. It would be nice if it had an option to set a temp and walk away rather then watch it and stop it yourself. But it’s still nice to see the real time temp and be able to control it. It seems well made and minimal plastic in contact with the water. The only plastic inside the kettle is a small latch at the pour spout. The cool touch feature works well and I like the sleek look of it. It’s an easy to use kettle and seems like it will last. Hopefully we get 5 years from this one like the last one we had!

Does exactly what I need it to do
Pros:AffordableCool touch exterior is great, I had multiple gooseneck kettles and often got burned touching the hot exterior. This kettle has no hot spots on the exterior.Interior is clean stainless and accessible for cleaning. No plastic contacts the water.Comfortable handle, easy to pick up and use.Wireless contact with base is great. I tried a corded kettle and it was a chore.Large capacity, it holds 1.5L but doesn’t take up too much counter space. The only con is if you try to pour very quickly, water can spill out around the sides of the spout. If you pour gently, this is not an issue.
