Our heavy duty solid state GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit) Protected Extension Cord offers, Open Neutral Protection, Ground Neutral and Built In Surge Protection that is required by OHSA on jobsites where an extension cord, power tool or other portable equipment is plugged in. In accordance with the standards and definitions extant within the NEC and UL standard 943 (For ground fault circuit interrupters) our GFCI offers protection from electrical shock by interrupting the electrical circuit to a load when a fault current of 6mA or more is detected. The 12/3 SJTW heavy-duty cord is manufactured to 12/3 AWG (American Wire Gauge) specifications. Each of the insulated copper conductors contain 65 strands of soft drawn annealed 30 gauge 100% copper wire. Our jackets offer special Thermo Vinyl Cold Weather protection, which guarantees our cord, will remain flexible in temperatures below freezing. The Hard Service jacket resists weathering while being oil, grease and is sunlight resistant. This cord carries a (WR) water resistant (FT2) flame retardant rating with Underwriters Laboratories. We mold on plugs and 3-way connectors which are crush resistant and water resistant. We also include special heavy duty strain reliefs to help prevent plug, connector and cord body separation. We use standard 15A-120V U-Ground type (NEMA 5-15) ends. As an additional safety feature (an OSHA Requirement) all PowerTechTM 15A and 20A models have a manual reset feature that requires the user to reset the GFCI after a trip condition and interruption of power. This mechanical safety feature prevents unmonitored equipment start up.
