Effective in absorbing the echo from the piano
We needed something to help absorb the big sound that was coming out of our Yamaha piano. Our piano tuner suggested using foam behind the piano on the wall and also in between the studs on the rear of our upright piano. We ordered this product and it was amazing how the two uses in concert together helped absorb the echoing and the glare that was coming from the piano. They are easy to use and designed a bit differently with those kinds of fingers that reach out and absorb the sound. Well worth the cost. The piano now sounds great.

Kept light from entering air vent.
Used this to block out lights from entering the room from the air vent. Working great!

Exactly what I expected.
These come firmly vacuumed packed. I recommend opening them and setting them aside for a few days before trying to install. If they don't easily separate let them sit longer. The panels that I thought were toast took form after a couple weeks so be patient. You can try heating them with a hairdryer to speed it up. Mine did not come with adhesive which was expected.Once they shape up they're what you would expect. All 36 were good no damage. I'm guessing some are ripping them apart and not waiting, tearing them up in the process.

A Tip for the Impatient
Now I take no responsibility if you do this, but I’ll tell you what I did to get these unpacked. I filled my bathtub with lukewarm water and chucked them in. I don’t own a hairdryer and no I ain’t bald either. At first I started wringing them out by hand in the bathtub after I drained it out. Look, I ain’t got to tell you why a got a bad back, but I got one okay? Anyways, doing that was making my sciatica act all crazy and started hurting and shit. These things are like super sponges so I wrung them bitches out twice and they’d still leave your hand moist to the touch. So then I grabbed these 2 lawn chairs that my mother gave me, that I didn’t ask for, that I leave on my balcony, that I don’t use, that I have to spend over a $1000 a month to pay for in rent on my 2 bedroom apartment the I have to share with a roommate and her new boyfriend in, and let them air dry… Anyways, I’m a paranoid folk, you could blame the service for that, and I don’t want to disturb my roommate and her boyfriend, now that I pretty much stow myself away in my room because I don’t want to be around them. I’m hoping I bought enough, I’ve been writing this review this whole time while watching them dry in the dryer with a towel. I don’t trust them enough to not catch on fire, so I’m keeping an eye on it. 10 Minutes seems to do the trick, with six at a time. Anyways, maybe I’ll do a sequel review when i actually put them up. I’ve been on such a lazy streak that I’ll probably just shove them in the corner and forget about them. Nah, maybe not, I’ve been so sleep deprived lately from the noise coming through the windows at my apartment located on the side of an interstate, I’m going to want to set these up pronto. One last thing I added some febreeze to the bathwater I used and I’m happy to report no smell coming off mine.

Work fantastically
Im shocked at how great these work. My Cane Corso barks very loud and my wife works from home. These dampened her bark so well that you can hardly hear her. I am so happy with these for sound dampening.

Better than expected
I expected this to be trash. I needed an add-on to get free overnight shipping and thought why not. My friend use to have a recording studio in the attic where we lived and it was pretty well treated against reflections. He had a nice set up with even bass traps and stuff. Nearly 20k+ equipment in a college dorm.I knew I’d likely never have a setup like that so I got a Shure SM7b, which is a dynamic mic. It has great off-axis rejection on nearly every side except behind. This means it works pretty well in less treated rooms and is good at blocking ambient noise. I used to live in line of an airport and a busy Highway, so that was important. All this to say: I thought these would do nothing, but they immediately reduced reflections. My noise sounds less boxy and almost echo-y. A much dryer, crisp sound. I might buy more of these panels lol.A little goes a long way, but I didn’t really need to stop side reflections. Put a few of these behind and to the side of you and you’ll be surprised.I didn’t soak them in water or wait very long. They immediately popped up and seemed like the right dimensions. I left them a few hours and they looked the same. Basically zero smell.I left them overnight just in case, but they still looked fully expanded and didn’t smell.I used 3M medium command strips to hang them up. They are super light so that might even be overkill. But it was a lot easier and cheaper than spray or double-sided tape. These are a great value and for my purposes did more than enough. If you want something to isolate sound or sound proofing, this is not the product. But if you want to minimize noise bouncing everywhere, this is great. Plan to get a lot more than me if you have a bare room with no furniture or use a condenser mic.

Floppy Twisted Foam Squares
I bought these to deaden sound transfer from the main floor to the basement/man cave. They were also chosen as an alternative to drywall or tacky suspended ceiling. Upon arrival I removed them from the packaging and left the expansion process begin. Some of them recovered their proper appearance and others did not. I would say out of 72 approximately 40 were still twisted in some way or another even after washing them, running them thru the washer and dryer at the lowest heat setting and leaving them sit by themselves for 2 weeks. There's no way you can make these look nice on a wall or ceiling without an excessive amount of work. (Measuring, marking lines, stretching panels to match lines, etc.) If you don't care what they look like once they're installed then this is the product for you. I however might insulate my dog house with them. Total trash!
