CAP Barbell Standard 1-Inch Barbell Weight Set, 100-Pounds

I bought two of these sets when they were on sale for 66 cents a pound with free Prime shipping. I was only wanted the plates to use for making some heavy dumbbells, and with the price was so low, I decided to take a chance. I received all the advertised components in both sets. The plates are the standard gray CAP plates. All of mine arrived in good shape.I can only assume the reports of missing pieces are due to the boxes being damaged in shipping. The boxes I received had reinforced packing bands around them, and somewhere along the line, they were completely wrapped in packing tape. One of the two boxes was crushed a little during shipping, cracking the cardboard, but the tape held the box together and kept everything inside.Based on comments in some of the other reviews, I should also mention that the bar looks like it would be fine for a set like this. They are in three pieces held together with two tapered pins on each end of the center section. You're going to need a mallet to drive the pins home.

Just built a little in-home gym after putting on the COVID 10. There aren’t many reasonably priced barbell sets available these days and we didn’t want to go crazy because we’re beginner to intermediate workout buffs. I found this barbell set and was reluctant to make the purchase because of all the mediocre reviews but I didn’t have many other options. We took a chance and went for it. My husband and I aren’t body builders by any means but this set turned out to be perfect for us. Seems solid so far and was easily assembled. Bought the matching dumbbell bars too. They are great as well.

Good weight set for the cost. The bar that comes with it isn't very good but, I had a bar already anyway, just needed more weights. Because of the bar, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. But, the rights are quality for the price.

I am actually pretty happy with this weight set. The bar is a lot sturdier than I thought it was going to be, and it is legitimately usable. The weights themselves are great for the price. They have a nice thick lacquer coating on them. There are a couple of spots of like bean sized pits in the steel, but nothing really troublesome.That said, there is one major problem here. The packaging really needs some help. Luckily, I did receive everything (although one plate fell out as I first picked it up). I am not at all surprised that people have reported missing or incomplete sets. The package itself is rather small, and only made of like double thick cardboard. It did not have straps or anything like that holding it together. The two halves were connected merely by 6 single layer strips of packing tape. And even on the inside its a mess, everything is completely loose. It's kind of just thrown in with some light foam sheets in between things. For me, the foam was already shredded up and clearly did not serve its intended purpose.This package is 100 pounds! Stuff the box completely full of foam, and then wrap it with thick nylon straps! I would gladly have paid an extra ten bucks for this set if that meant the packaging would be up to par. So while thankfully I did manage to receive my weight set intact (barely), I have to take off two stars for the sake of anybody interested in buying these. It's a nice set, great value, but there's probably only like a 50% chance that the it will make it to you in one piece. I was considering buying another set, but it's not worth the risk now IMO.

I used to work out at the gym for 3 hours, one hour for abs. 33 years later I bought this set to start pumping again and surprise the tricepes popped out first...lol This is a good set

I purchased this as a hold for my home gym thinking once other quality brands were in stock, I would purchase a barbell and weight plates from the higher quality brand. I realize this is a barbell that is cheaper, but its overall quality was bad. I had to put the barbell together, but was unable to because of misalignment of the little peg holes. Needless to say, I had to return it, which is just a frustrating process when I was trying to package and carry an awkward 100 pound box that was falling apart when I received it. Save your time and sign up for in stock notifications from brands such as Rogue or Titan.

Lucky for me I already have a bar and really bought this for the plates (great deal-of-the-day price!), but took two stars off because of the missing pins. I have a set of CAP adjustable dumbbells like this and they are good enough for my non-professional needs, though the stars are constantly needing tightening. If I can get replacement pins I will use this bar for lighter weights.The plates look ok, one of the 5-pound plates has a pretty good ding in it (not from shipping) but not enough to fuss about. They are quite slick, so take care handling them.This arrived much quicker than I expected, and by UPS. It was well-packed and I haven't seen any shipping damage yet.I've sent a message to CAP asking for replacement pins, as it would be nice to be able to use the bar. I'll update after/if I hear back.
