Spend the money, it's worth it.
I've had this hole cutter for over 5 years. I'm an electrical contractor and constantly cutting holes. I've cut many times in plaster and still have not had to change the blades. Best hole cutter on the market. I'm buying an extra one just because.

Worth the investment, even for small project!!!!
This tool was definitely the MVP for my recessed lighting install. About a week after I had brand new carpeting installed, I decided to do recessed lighting in my 70yr old PLASTER ceiling (this stuff is like drilling through cement compared to sheetrock). After looking at the overpriced low quality crap for cutting light holes they sell at big box stores, vs my original plan of using a sawzall and making a huge mess, I found this thing. I had to cut about 8 holes in plaster ceiling to mount 6" lighting cans. After the first hole I had this overwhelming sigh of relief and disbelief that there is no way it could be this EASY and CLEAN. Don't even waste money on the vacuum adapter, the bowl catches all the mess and you just dump it into a garbage can/bag. This thing cut 6" holes for recessed lighting cans through 3/4" of plaster in under 20 seconds per hole. It was amazing. Now I am glad I have the tool, I will probably put recessed lights in other rooms now without hesitation. Also includes a really nice blow molded carry case that holds everything. Just make sure you have a cordless drill with a 1/2" chuck, and one that has a selectable transmissions, and you want to run this at low speed (I used a 36V dewalt in first gear approx. 500rpm and it cut FAST, approx. 20sec/hole)

Just works right. Better than anything else!!
I worried about spending the money but after the first few holes it was obvious this is absolutely worth the money. The hard shield keeps your gun perpendicular to the ceiling the blades cut without tearing up the wallboard the depth setting is just great when you have to cut just the wall board and not cut into a trussJust read and follow the instructions because you need to put the blades on in the correct orientation. You need to tighten bolts the way they tell you. If you do those things this is perfect had to drill 60 holes and not one of them changed size or was drilled in properly or caused a problem with my wall board can't recommend this any higher

Where have you been all my life?
The media could not be loaded. Great tool at a reasonable price. Works just as you would expect and better. Quality tool that should stand the test of time. Quality blow molded the case is well thought out and was a deciding factor in my purchase (a tool like this is worthless if you lose the pieces or spend more time looking for a piece than it takes to complete the job). Case has a place for everything including tools needed for adjustment, one set of blades for drywall and other abrasive materials and a second set of blades for non-abrasives (wood, plastic, rubber, etc..). As with any circle cutter I have used it is imperative to double check the cutting size and to make sure cutters are same distance from pilot/centering bit. MEASURE TWICE (or more) CUT ONCE!!! And you will be time ahead. (Fyi my video was taken one handed from a ladder. With 2 hands this thing cuts even better)

Can do, do overs.
I can't say enough about this hole saw my first time to try it out was on a plaster ceiling the first hole I drilled for recess lights I had made the setting 1/16 of an inch to small for the can this could be a nightmare with the abrasion saw you find at home depot no do over the saw would dance across the room I was sick I'm working with a finish ceiling the home owner would have went crazy not only that I would had to shell out at least a hundred or more to have it repaired. I reset the pro x-230 to the size needed pushed up hard on the dust catcher started the saw fast speed pushed up the saw easy, in two seconds the hole was big enough it paid for it's self right there. If you have a lot of holes to drill it's worth every cent. If you have only one hole to drill it cost to much for you to own, get the abrasion at home depot it won't cut anywhere near as fast but your time is not money. The ceiling I was cutting is one inch thick it cut it in less then fifteen seconds. I have over fifty holes to drill with no clean up.
