If I was going 2 buy another one I'd look for 1 with a light. When you place this down on something it seals the light out.

Not 30x. I have 10x with better magnification.

It needs a case.

I don't dislike this lens, but it's not really 30x nor is it German, as the product images feature. For examining photo negatives, it will likely be ok. If you need 30x, and better build quality, there are better options

The description claims this loupe is 30x, but it barely magnifies at all.It definitely has much less magnification than a cheap plastic loupe with 10x.Build quality is nice, but of zero value since it doesn’t magnify.

I got three loupes (10X, 17.5X, 30X). This one I was especially excited about because it is supposedly Made in Germany (although a sticker on the box has Chinese writing, so who knows) and I thought that might mean excellent quality. Well, I don't think it magnifies any more/better than the Carson 10X loupe and is actually more difficult to use because the barrel is all metal, therefore, you don't get any light from around the sides (only from the top - which you are covering with your eye/face). I doubt I will use it much and I would not buy it again.

A very clear magnifier but definitely NOT 30X magnification as described, more like 4 or 5 X at most. I kept it because I could still use it, but not for the original purpose
