HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THESE MAGICAL ICE THINGSI believe the reason why some people had issues with these is because they didn't read all the instructions and the tips provided by Techni Ice. Techni Ice should really provide more detailed instructions with the package. Below I will share the additional information from the Techni Ice website.TOP NOTES----------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. The most important thing to understand here is that the colder your freezer is, the better these things will perform. Techni Ice can be frozen as low as your freezer temperature can go (40c if you have a deep freezer).2. These things are NON-TOXIC! If it leaks a bit, don't worry about the gel. According to the Techni Ice website, you can put it on your tongue or skin and it will not harm you!3. Use 1 sheet per 7-8 liters of space. Ideally, everything you put in your cooler should be pre-chilled before hand. The colder everything is before you load your cooler, the better Techni Ice will perform.HOW TO USE----------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. Fill your sink or bath tub with the warmest water you can comfortably put your hands in for an extended period of time. Techni Ice hydrates faster in warm water.2. Scrunch up the Techni Ice sheet to get as much air out of the cells as possible. You should see bubbles coming out of them. There are tiny holes on both sides. Be sure to scrunch them up every which way paying particular attention to the cells in the middle of the sheet. Let the sheet absorb some water and then do the scrunching then again. It should be obvious when the cells are full.3. Sandwich the sheet between some towels and apply gentle pressure to get some of the water back out. Ideally, you don't want the cells 100% full because when the cells freeze the material inside will expand and may rupture the cells. If you have time, leave the sheets out in open air to dehydrate for 1-2 days. You want the outside of the sheets to be as dry as possible before loading them into the freezer.4. Freeze the sheets as cold as you can get them. The colder and longer you leave them in the freezer, the better they will perform. According to Techni Ice, it can take 2-3 days for the sheets to reach their coldest temperature.5. When using the sheets, you can fold them in half and place them in a gallon sized zip-lock bag to prevent any of the gel material from seeping onto other items in your cooler. The main thing you need to be concerned with is preventing the sheets from absorbing more liquid from your cooler. If you put regular ice in the cooler, make sure that it is also bagged.IMPORTANT NOTE: Cold sinks from top to bottom! When arranging the ice in your cooler, ideally, you should line the walls as high as you can get it. Also make sure that there is a blanket of ice on the very top.STORAGE: When not using your Techni Ice packs they can be stored in an open plastic bag in a cupboard or freezer. They are virtually maintenance free, but can be run under the water every so often to maintain or regain hydration. It is nature friendly and non-toxic. Place a dab on your tongue, rub it on your skin, it won't hurt you!5) Can you cut Techni Ice?Answer: Absolutely! Remember, it's flexible and adaptable. You can cut each sheet into 24 individual cells or any configuration that suites your needs. From a soda can to an aching neck, Techni-Ice fits! (Be sure to cut between the cells, not where the polymer gel is).6) How do you activate Techni Ice?Answer: You submerge It. in warm to hot water and scrunch it from side to side from top to bottom evenly. You do this for approximately 4 to 6 minutes or until hydrated (you should be able to put a thumbprint in each cell. The reason for the thumbprint is when you put anything into the freezer it expands 10%, so you must leave some room for expansion when frozen). If you over hydrate your Techni Ice, just lay it on a counter for 1 to 2 days or put it in the microwave a few times to dehydrate it.7) How many sheets do I need?Answer: You need one sheet per 8 Quarts of space in a cooler. An example is a 54-quart camping cooler needs 6 to 8 sheets to give the full cooling benefit of the Techni Ice. A day cooler needs 2 to 4 sheets, and a lunch box cooler needs only 1 to 2 sheets to keep your lunch cool all day.8) How long does Techni Ice last?Answer: It depends on how often you open and close your cooler, how many sheets you use, how cold you froze the Techni Ice (recommended time of freezing is 24 to 36 hours before using. The longer you freeze, the colder your freezer, the quality of your cooler, the longer it will last). A typical camping cooler with Techni Ice should give you 1 to 4 days approximately of lasting coolness, a day cooler will last a day, and a lunch box will last through a normal lunch period.9) How often can you freeze Techni Ice and how durable is it?Answer: Remember Techni-Ice is a replacement product Forget those messy water ice cubes that promptly melt and make a soggy mess in your cooler. You can freeze Techni Ice as often as you like. With proper use, you will have years of benefit from Techni Ice.10) Can I use Techni Ice with Ice?Answer: Yes, you could, but why bother? You must put either the Techni Ice or the ice in a waterproof bag so the water from the ice doesn't melt onto the Techni Ice. If it does melt onto the Techni Ice the Techni Ice will absorb the liquid and melt quicker (It will also make the Techni Ice too full and when it expands in the freezer it will probably burst or split because it is too full).11) How should I store the Techni Ice?Answer: The best place to store the Techni Ice is in the freezer. However, If you have a frost-free freezer, it will most likely dehydrate a little. If this happens all you have to do is re-hydrate the sheets in warm to hot water again for just a few moments or until a thumbprint can be put in each cell. You can also store it in an open plastic bag and lay it on a shelf. It too will dehydrate eventually. All you have to do is re-hydrate again for a few minutes or until you can put a thumbprint in each cell12) How do you heat Techni Ice?Answer: Place it in a microwave oven for, to begin with, one minute. If you need it hotter, just add time to your microwave oven until you reach the desired temperature. It is recommended that, if frozen, defrost the Techni Ice first.13) How should the Techni ice be placed in the cooler?Answer: You can either put some on the bottom first, then circle the edges of the cooler or layer it with food, then add a layer of Techni Ice, then food, then Techni Ice, etc.14) Why should I heat the Techni Ice?Answer: You can make a hot pack for your body or use it to keep food warm. Be careful not to overheat Techni Ice; just like the baby's bottle, touch it gently to your wrist and adjust the temperature as needed. Be sure to put a towel or clothe between the spot to be treated and the Techni-Ice. This way you will feel the benefit of warm heat without the discomfort of plastic on your skin.

These are the best ice coolers! You can cut them and make them any size if you need it for your body or your lunchpail or around a wine bottle is fabulous

First bought these at a Sports RV show. That was YEARS ago. It was time to replace them and found them on Amazon. These were the exact same brand, an upgraded version, and less than we paid for them years ago. So glad I found them here.

I absolutely love this product I have had them before and have used them for years. These perticular ones though have a slimy film on them. I called Techni Ice and talked to them about it and they said it could be a defect or it could be that when I floated them to fill them that I let them overfill. I followed the directions and pushed my thumb in them to release some water like I was supposed to but did not help and I am showing where one has split. I have tried to contact the seller by email and by phone and haven't received a response. I have noticed on some companies on Amazon that they won't respond back. I had a problem with another company that actually fixed the problem eventually but still would never acknowledge to me that there was a problem and that they were working to correct it. They didn't break the bank but it is still irritating to not get a response. I plan on trying to get a response again before I give up it would just be nice to not have to try so hard to get someone to stand behind there product. I have contacted amazon about it yet. Great product I just got some that are messed up somehow.

had this product for many years but i used it so much, like everyday, the (had two, gave away others) cover was tearing. still worked though.these new things? terrible. as reported by other the gels oozes out. at the end of the day everything is coated with the stuff. tried washing thinking maybe it's just an initial thing, though the 1st ones i bought never had the issue. rinsed them off then soaked them again. tossed in the freezer,. packed my stuff. i get home the slime is all over. and i bought a 6 sheeter. i'll try a couple more and hope it won't be a 4 or 3 out of 6.

I was given a couple of these ice sheets many years ago, and have been using them in my Golf Cooler Bag for years. They work great, bending to fit inside the smaller cooler, and around the bottles of "water" inside.They finally started to show signs of wear, and I was surprised to find them still on the market, and now in a new improved version. New version is nearly identical to the older ones, and work just as well.

These Techni Ice Sheets are the best. The majority of the other brands out there have a cloth-like backing which tear easy and they have a tendency to leak. Techni Ice Sheets do not have the cloth backing and are much more durable and sturdy. Yes, they cost more but are definitely worth it. I always take a couple with me to put in my cooler bag when I go grocery shopping. These will easily stay frozen/cold for the entire day.
