Definitely more than 5 stars! I have the hand operated version of this style of opener, but was faced with just over 50 cans that had to be opened. Hand power wasn’t going to do it so this opener sounded like the ticket. Easy peasy! Clean opening, quick and the job was done in short order. Can’t say enough about this opener and only wish that more people knew that you could open a can without having sharp edges or metal shavings in your food! Not sure how anyone could give this Hamilton Beach opener less than 5 stars.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I loved the idea that it was a can opener that ended up without sharp edges and that you could put a lid back on. You do have to be careful to listen for the change in the sound of the whirring though to know when it is through with cutting one time around. It will make metal shards otherwise. Size:It fit in the space I had more easily than any of the others.

This Hamilton Beach can opener is my first experience with the side-cutter style, and I am extremely pleased with it. It is so nice to be able to clean opened cans without worrying that I will cut my hand on a sharp edge. The first few times I used this can opener I had difficulty telling when it had completed the cut, but soon I got the hang of it. I've been using it for about 6 months now and it has flawlessly opened all can sizes. This is the best can opener I've ever owned.

No really this can opener was so good we bought it again 8/9 years later! After researching the best can openers this one pops up time and time again. Plus you can’t beat the price tag! Love this can opener… won’t fix what ain’t broken.

I've never paid so much for a can opener. I read reviews carefully and research all websites and options on everything I buy on or offline. It's mostly made of plastic, even the parts that appear to be metal. The day of sturdy appliances at a reasonable price are long over. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to work it. It doesn't have a viewable blade like all others I've had in the past. It cuts reasonably clean. Prevents cuts from sharp metal. No rippling of kids. I'm in the habit of having my hand underneath the cans while opening them, then I removed the tops from the cans. Perfect size for my needs. Doesn't slide off the counter while in use. The fact that it's mostly plastic and won't hold up as long as a traditional can opener, as well as the high cost, was the reason for my 4 star review. I imagine that top bit you press on will be the first thing to go. My last Hamilton Beach can opener held up fairly well. It started to smell strange, like burning out strange, but still worked. I was anticipating the motor going out soon, so I replaced it with this one. It matches my kitchen. Basic black and silver goes with everything.

Product is attractive and good quality. It is wonderful to open cans and no longer have to worry about cutting yourself on sharp edges. I can't believe more companies aren't making this type of can opener. I would definitely purchase this item again and would highly recommend it to others.

this is the first electric can opener I've had since I was very young so I don't have anything else to compare it to. but it works well and is easy to use. I thought it was a good price. opens very large cans easily.

Originally thought this thing was neato. Then I realized some idgit changed how can openers work and this thing just tries to cluster F its way into chopping the whole damn lid off. This might be fine if the cans were made of flimsy whimsy but alas most canned products are actually made in durable cans that this little b word cant fn slice through. Ingenuity doesnt mean crapping on my canned goods...
