I don't know if it's a byproduct of the manufacturing process or what, but I can't even use these without getting disgusting floaties. Glad I tried it in water first, before ruining good scotch, or using them in something darker where I might not have seen. Turns out there's this white film that's impossible to remove. I've spent several long sessions attempting to scrub it off, washed the trays in the dishwasher, by hand, boiled them, nothing works. Every time they dry the film is there.Complete waste of money if you can never use them.

If you think you might like BIG ice cubes that last a long time, then don't hesitate, buy these. They take a while to freeze but once frozen you have 16 cubes. They eject from the trays easily by pushing from the bottom with your thumbs. The challenge is getting these sorta floppy trays to the freezer without spilling. I like a challenge so I won't take a star away. It's become a game for us. I get to tease my wife and she's ever vigilant to catch me with a spill. I'm glad I made this purchase not once but twice. Always lots of ice on hand now.Follow up. I have no idea what this white stuff on the ice trays is. When I try to get rid of it by submerging it in hot water and rubbing until it fades, this only partially gets rid of it. When using the cubes I've been noticing granular stuff in the bottom of the glass. This is with filtered water. No cubes from these trays and then there is no stuff in the glass. I'm concerned about what this contaminate is. These pictures are taken when the trays are on the counter dry. I'd sure like to hear from the seller that this is nothing to be concerned about.

I love these trays. I bought them to freeze yogurt starter in but I only used them once for that. I make beef and chicken bone broth and freeze several trays of each of those and keep them in bags in my freezer. It’s great when you only need a small amount of broth for a recipe and don’t want to open a 16 oz jar. I also freeze leftover tomato sauce in these. Great for making individual size pizzas or 2-3 for a regular size pizza. I have not used them as regular ice cube trays. I have had no problem cleaning these or had any off tastes with these. I would definitely buy these again. I do see others on Amazon now that have lids and that would be nice. I cover them with foil or Saran Wrap before I put them in the freezer to avoid picking up a taste from the freezer.

I use these in cocktails, but also in soda that has not been in the fridge. The big ice chunks cool the drinks a little slower than small cubes, but they melt extremely slow, sparing you from a watered down beverage. The rubber is very flexible so cubes pop out fairly easy. I've had them in use for about a month and like them. If you like drinks on the rocks, they work great. My drink of choice is whiskey old fashioned. I also have the ice ball molds. The balls are bigger and look more cool, but they are a pain the neck and you have to make a bunch in advance of a party. These cubes are smaller, but you can make 16 at a time. I find myself using the big cubes more often out of convenience. I like the product, its worked great for me and I recommend to friends.

Love this product. You can do so much with them it's crazy. You are only limited by your imagination! I am about to buy more to make/freeze cubes made of pesto, chicken stock, tomato sauce, orange juice and lemon juice for drinks, water with fresh herbs to safely store fresh herbs for winter use, and anything else I can think of storing in my freezers for the winter. I am also going to buy some concentrated frozen orange juice (or others), melt them and re-freeze them in those ice cube trays to make it easier to just use one or two in my smoothies. If you buy this item, please remember to review it and mention what you use them for to help others think of other uses.

I just received this order and have used the ice cube trays twice - so far, they've worked as expected - but it is too soon to give a valid, reliable product review - a six-month or longer use is more useful. I bought this product because trays from another manufacturer I've used have cracked over time and leaked water inside the freezer, which is why I bought this rubber product. It remains to be seen whether tears or other weaknesses will result from repeated use as have their predecessors.

These are great, but it seems that no matter how we wash them, they have a powdery residue that shows up when they are dry. We've tried dishwasher, handwashing, rinsing with vinegar, drying with a towel immediately after washing - no luck with avoiding the powdery residue look. They do make easy to remove, square ice cubes and no complaints in that respect.

I loved this product up until the time I moved, thawed this out and took it to my new home.THE FREEZER STENCH THAT HAD BUILT UP WAS DISGUSTING, and could not at all be removed. I tried soapy water, standing in regular water, standing in lemon juice, standing in white vinegar, standing with baking soda.....NOTHING!!! (Makes me wonder if I was drinking the melted stink-water in my drinks for years. yuck.)This product is cool, and I love the huge cubes, but you had better wash and sanitize it pretty often in your dishwasher. Gross.
