I love this camera
This camera is a great beginner camera with out all the overwhelming settings others may have. I can't put to words how great the zoom is I have take some great pictures of family and scenery on trips.

Small size, Long optical zoom, Controls work well, but are very close to each other.
This is my Second P530. Bought this after I dropped the first on an ice covered sidewalk. The first one was remarkably reliable over several years of abuse (structural engineer). This camera fits my tool bag nicely, and is relatively light weight. The lens works well in low light, is easily adjusted for such conditions either in auto mode or manually set. My opinion.... Nikon got this right for someone who needs an unobtrusive camera that works in out of the norm conditions.

Older is better.
Happy with my purchase. Most new cameras have no "view finder". Works great for being a used camera. Great zoom!

Use Your iPhone Instead
I've used Nikon DSLR cameras for many years. I bought the CoolPix P530 for a trip overseas where I needed a small camera to save space. First, the good things about this camera: the 1,000mm (equivalent) lens does an excellent job, and the anti-shake feature makes it even better. This camera takes excellent photos if the sun is at your back. Now for the bad news: This camera will blow the highlights like you can't imagine! I took it to the Middle East where I had an abundance of sunshine, but anytime the sun was not directly behind me the photos were very washed out (basically worthless). I often used my iPhone 6 so I could immediately post photos to social media without having to upload photos from a SD card—when you compare the iPhone photos with the ones from this camera you realize that the iPhone does a much better job in nearly every situation. In fact, were it not for the telephoto lens of this CoolPix, I would have rather taken ALL of my photos with the iPhone!A couple other problems: This camera does not offer the ability to take photos in Camera RAW—something it really needs because it is terrible with the highlights. Also, this camera is painfully slow—it is slow to start up, slow to shot and slow to save. Finally, the battery is only good for about 200 photos before recharging (and that is with the monitor turned off).Bottom line, unless you really need the telephoto lens, just use your iPhone (plus the iPhone is much better at taking panoramic photos).

... a significant discount (about 35 percent lower than the best retail I could find)
I purchased this camera refurbished at a significant discount (about 35 percent lower than the best retail I could find). After examining it the camera looked brand new to me and so far has performed as I expected (the camera does have trouble focusing at far ends of the optical zoom, but I expected this as numerous reviews listed this as a "con"). So far I have put this camera thru it's basic paces and it has performed "flawlessly". I still have to check out some of the special features, but based on my observations already, I don't expect any serious issues. One thing that has proved most helpful is Nikon's on line user manual (226 pages long) that will tell you most anything one needs to know about this camera. There is also a much shorter quick start manual that gives the reader the basics for set up and operation. One last thought: I purchased my camera from one of the "other dealers" listed on Amazon - I purcchased from a dealer who had a very high satisfaction rating covering many, many transactions and to date I am quite pleased with the purchase.

Great Little Camera!
After a week or so of testing this camera, I'm really impressed! I was looking for a superzoom to use along with my DSLR and have for backup. It has tons of features that are fun to use and the quality of the photos is more than I expected. It can be slow to focus in low light or at high zooms, but that is to be expected. I have not had a problem with focusing at all. I love all the scene and effect modes, and I am still trying all of them out. I am including shots using long zoom, moon and landscape. The moon shot was done in moon mode, using a tripod. You get better results by increasing the timer to 10 seconds and turning off the vibration reduction. The panoramic mode also worked very well. Very nice camera for the price. It may take a little practice for an inexperienced photographer, however.

the ranking or score or positive feedback, it does not mean you receive good things. buy it if it is prime. or free return.
I try to write my feeling and true things. and do not exaggerate.and this is my opinion.I gave them 1 because it is the minimum point which I can choose.it was the worst things I bought from Amazon.I found a good deal. the original price was $ 398.99. but they asked 135 for a used camera.it is clear, it was risky. but I trusted the seller ranking.92% positive in the last 12 months (466 ratings)my mistake was to trust that ranking.it was free shipping.I receive it with very bad packaging. my feeling was I like receive a donation and it is free.it was a camera. I could not turn it on.it did not have a charger.I bought a used camera but my expectation was to receive at least clean one.it was dirty.to return it. I had to dive 10 miles and waist half an hour and around 12 dollars pay for return it.the positive side, I learned to do not trust ranking of a seller.and just buy prime goods.seller refund my money.here is my advice.if you find a good thing.the ranking or score or positive feedback, it does not mean you receive good things.buy it if it is prime.Best,
