Got a Bad Lot? and getting Expensive.
We used this product for a couple years. Always had been happy until our last purchase. More than half the bags were shredded. And if they didn't come off the roll shredded,, they fell apart once I lined my scrap bucket.. Seems like it was a bad lot that should have been caught by Oggi's quality assurance team. Honestly it was the first horrible quality product we received from them. When we first started purchasing Oggi, it was one of the only compostable (counter top size) bags on Amazon. I think they have gotten pretty expensive too. Will be trying an alternative.

Keeps my countertop compost keeper cleaner.
There's only one of me composting. I fill up about one bag per week--sometimes less. Then I can simply remove the bag, tie the top up using the bag itself (because it's way bigger than my compost container) and toss it in the compost bin outside my city provides and requires for city compost. If I go over a week and have really moist stuff, sometimes the bag starts to dissolve. I've begun putting a folded sheet of paper in the bottom of the bag and that seems to prevent that. In the winter when they don't collect (Michigan November 1 to April 1) I simply keep putting the bags out in the bin. They freeze during the winter, so no rodents get in. They city is, as of this month, supplying kitchen counter bins to use inside to collect your waste before putting in their outside bin. But it's bigger and not as pretty as the one I have which is ceramic and looks like a cute, miniature garbage can. They give you one of these same bags for starter and suggest you use them. But, here's the kicker. They sell them to residents 25 bags for $2. I think I'll stock up. Much better price than Amazon, but I bet the city gets a huge discount. I'm giving 4 stars because they disintegrate somewhat in my indoor container if I go longer than a week. But I bet that would be fine for outdoor composting.

Not as good as they used to be
I have used these bags for years, ever since I bought the Oggi countertop compost bin. In my last two orders, however, the bags have gotten noticeably thinner. They rip easily and can't contain the compostable items very well. Also, the price (I buy from Amazon) has almost doubled in the last two years. I decided to switch to a thicker and less expensive brand and it is doing just fine. Sorry, Oggi, but I've become very disappointed in your product.

Outstanding for home use! Compost much more now + the liners break down well
These little bags have spurred a revolution for getting my family to compost consistently. I'm fairly obsessed with composting since it's great for my garden and keeps smelly stuff out of the kitchen trash, and reduces trash overall, but some of my family members have been less enthusiastic. It seems their reluctance was an "ickiness" or convenience issue, which these bags largely solve. They're easy to slide into the pail and fit neatly over the edges (I have an oval-shaped EcoCrock), and make it so much cleaner and easier to empty the pail. Usually I just pull out the liner and take it outside; if it's a particularly moist batch (like coffee grounds or something mushy) or the pail was stuffed full and sat for more than a few days inside, it can be safer to take the whole pail and dump all the contents into the compost pile directly. The liner is supposed to break down easily so it's a good thing that it isn't super thick or infinitely waterproof... that would defeat the purpose. These bags have consistently, beautifully decomposed in my little compost pile without a trace. Even the ones thrown outside during freezing New England winters are gone by gardening time in the spring. Also FYI, composting is a lot simpler than some have been led to believe - a pile in the corner of your yard is all you need; basic kitchen/yard scraps (and these liners!) decompose pretty easily even if you're not regularly turning the pile. Happy composting and thank you, Oggi, for these handy liners!

Declining usefulness
I have been buying these for several years. Up till now they have met my needs. However lately the quality has gone way down. The latest bunch was so bad that even opening the bag cause them to spilt and tear. With the most carefully handling, I am lucky to get 1 out of five not to break and tear. I really liked the previous ones, but now I am looking for a replacement brand. Do no buy this now inferior product.

Exactly what I needed
I have a large 3 bin compost system and fill my counter top compost bucket over a 2-3 day period. I purchased them in July 2020 and have gone thru two boxes so am ordering again. I have never had them leak unless something pokes through the bag ( like a rosemary stem.) I toss them full of compostables into my "working" bin and by the time they make it to the third "finished" bin, they have mostly disappeared. Any shred left goes into the second bin and are gone when that is turned into the "finished" bin. I used to use plastic bags and would empty those into the composting system but then had to put the dirty bags into the trash ( landfill.) I try to minimize my plastic bag use and recycle them as much as possible, so was so happy to find a environmentally safe replacement.

Bags that do breakdown
I read a lot of reviews of a lot of compost pail bags before finally deciding on these. These bags seemed to have had a few bad reviews and I'd like to touch on a few of those. One reviewer stated that the bags didn't breakdown with everything else and they remained as bagged produce. These bags take time to breakdown like everything else so if the bag is thrown in with your compostables still inside, the stuff inside really won't start seriously breaking down until the bag does. Easy fix, dump the compostables out of the bag into your compost pile/bin and throw the bag in, put a new bag in your compost pail and roll on. The bags will in fact break down alongside everything else if done this way. Another reviewer mentioned that the bags leak. Being made of cornstarch, I have noticed that mine seep the tiniest amount of clear liquid into the bottom of my pail over the course of a week or so, but it's nothing a quick wipe with a paper towel doesn't clean up between bags changes (then throw the paper towel in the new bag.) I'm more than happy with the bags and haven't had a single issue. You can't go wrong with these, they save you from having to clean out the pail every couple weeks.
