What is important to know? Let me help...
Let me help... I have used this compound to make circuit boards for years. These tips will help all; whether it's pennies, guitar parts, or just about anything, like I said, I make printed circuit boards,1- Don't handle the item directly. Use gloves. Keep your hands off.2- Clean the item you are etching/cleaning well. Use something effective on grease, that leaves no residue.3- Use a small amount of the compound. Less, is more (it really is).4- If it's not working well: heat the etchant. I heat mine in the microwave oven. Not in the bottle; heat a small amount in something you can use to easily use to pour it out. Of course, if if you're using a plastic tray; take the item you're working with out/ removing it, DO NOT PUT THE ITEM YOU'RE WORKING ON IN THE MICROWAVE WITH THE ETCHANT (handling the item as discussed in item 1 above), and place the tray right in the microwave. I heat in short bursts of 8 seconds at a time, being careful not to overheat the compound. You'll be amazed at how heating the compound supercharges it. I ALWAYS heat it. It just makes no sense not to.Follow these tips- you'll be glad you did!

No Directions What So Ever
This etchant had zero instructions. It did have what may be a concentration but that meant nothing to me. I had to experiment by diluting small quantities with water and testing the solution on the knife blade I was etching. The project turned out OK, but I feel I was lucky since I was working in the dark and had NO help from the manufacturer.

I use it to "restore" dates on US Buffalo nickels (1913 - 1938).
When I learned that the name brand nickel date restorer is all or mostly ferric chloride, I bought this listing; a much larger quantity than the name brand for a small fraction of the per oz price. I applied to worn-out-date nickels sparingly with a toothpick, I've had great results. See pic. Highly recommended for this use.
