If you use it Once, You will use it Many times--Good Investment
I had a Check Engine light showing in 2022 and went to my local Smog Check station, about a week after passing my Smog Test... great timing... pass the smog inspection then get a Check Engine light a week later!! The guy actually refused to put his OBD tester on my car just to show me what the code was. I was really ticked. I bought the Innova 6100P just to find out it was a misfire after I power washed my engine. Easy fix, find cylinder 2 and dry the area with compressed air, then use the tester to reset the Check Engine light. Happy with the Innova 6100P, used many times since then before having any of the family/friends vehicles smog checked. The 6100 was discontinued in 2024 but I was able to flash the firmware to a 2023 version in 2025 despite Innova saying they don't update the product. Was happy with that one last update was available. Don't know if this will add the 2023 cars to the scanner's database until I try a newer vehicle. See before/after update photos. The update takes about 10 minutes to complete.

OBD2 scanner
First of all I was sent this scanner but the opinions are my own. This is my go to scanner for quick readiness checks. After plugging it in it shows you what's green and what is not. So it's great when getting your car ready before a smog check is needed. The only down side is the updates are on the slow side since you have to connect it to the computer. Other than that it has been working fine after moving around in the car. Because of the size it's just a bit more convenient to handle. For the price you may be able to find a tablet scanner, but again it just depends on what you need. I have both types and use both because they are both handy. I lt just depends on what you want to do

OBD2 scanner code reader with ABS and SRS function.
Having a good OBDII scan tool with ABS (Anti lock Brake System) is a nice thing to have while troubleshooting vehicle problems. Some of the most common error codes on cars come from ABS and SRS systems. Both the ABS and SRS systems in your vehicle are there for your protection. ABS/SRS diagnostic tools are scanners that able to read and clear fault code on these systems. Engine codes are a complex mathematical code that attempts to deliver messages to the driver about what’s happening under the hood. With an ABS/SRS diagnostic scanner, you will have the ability to read codes and make sure all safety measures are in place before putting yourself in harm’s way. Anti-lock brake system or ABS light may illuminate for a multitude of reasons, some may be because of a faulty ABS pump or a bad relay. Anti-lock brake system or ABS light may illuminate for a multitude of reasons, some may be because of a faulty ABS pump or a bad relay. An ABS problem may be a simple fix that can be diagnosed with a visual inspection of the brakes. Although, to really detect where the problem is, you will need to retrieve the ABS code with an ABS/SRS OBD2 auto scanner. With these tools, you can snap them on or plug them in, and get an overall scan of your vehicles onboard diagnostics. For the Safety Restraint System or the SRS, this system is composed of impact sensors, a control module, and the airbags. In the event of a collision, these sensors will send a signal to the control module, which delivers this message to the airbags which will hopefully deploy and protect you. When the control module detects an issue with the airbags, the SRS light will come on. Once again, to truly find the root of the problem, an ABS/SRS auto scanner will help you discover what your vehicle needs to be running properly. An ABS/SRS scan tool is a necessary tool to identify faults in your engine that can turn on the ABS or SRS engine light. It can be used on multiple cars, it can be a family diagnostic tool that will help you monitor the safety of all drivers and alert you when a problem is detected or scheduled maintenance is coming up. With live data and freeze frame functions, you can take a snapshot of engine data and stored codes. Maintenance alerts to let you know when you need to go in for a vehicle inspection and if everything is running smoothly. The interface also makes finding the make and model of a car or truck is easy to do. It works on any USA vehicle 1996 and newer as well a European 2000 and newer. Passing Smog test is the most common use of a ABS diagnostic tool with a good one able to give you the problem quickly and erase codes.Keep in mind if a code is erased it more than likely will come back if the problem is not fixed. OBD II is built into all cars made after 1996 and newer vehicles and a good tool will work with most all makes and models of cars and trucks.

Feature Rich
The media could not be loaded. I needed an upgrade to my basic OBD scanners which were very basic budget devices. This Innova unit does vehicle specific diagnosis along with ABS (Anti Lock Brake Systems), SRS (Supplemental Restraint Systems), and Charging system checks (non-hybrid). It was very handy that this came with a branded carrying case and the required batteries. Download the full users manual at the company website as the one included is just to get you started. Lots of information there.First thing I noticed about this unit is that it has onboard power. Having this feature allowed me to turn on the device without having it plugged in. This allows for 1) a lighted OBD port so I can see in the dark and 2) allows me to use the device's built in to locate the OBD port on the specific vehicle itself. Yes, this scanner has an onboard library of the location of various port locations. VERY useful as I've had trouble finding them on certain vehicles.Having onboard power also means it will save your vehicle profile. It contains a nice library of trouble code definitions and correction procedures. Obviously these are basic guidelines but it gives good direction on where to start looking at for the problem.I ran the general OBD checks, Enhanced manufacturer specific tests, ABS, and SRS checks. The unit responds fairly quick to the button presses. Holding down the button allows you to scroll down the list faster without having to tap every single time. The screen is bright and clear. Backlighting is adjustable. Button presses have an optional audible beep. What's also useful was the Emissions Readiness checks for smog inspection (AKA I/M Readiness). If you fix your car and erase a code, your vehicle computer must run a series of checks to ensure your vehicle is ready for a Smog Check. This device not only shows you which emissions component monitors have passed the checks, it also has vehicle specific parameters on when the monitor will run. For example it tells you that certain checks only run during a cold start or some only when a certain coolant temperature has been reached. This saves the user a lot of time. Instead of guessing and hoping, we can know for sure how to get it ready for the smog check. This is a great and much needed addition to my tool box. As cars become more and more computerized every mechanic needs to keep up with what is required. Highly recommended.
