Good insight without being disaster porn.
After working in this field for a decade, much of the literature surrounding natural disasters seems overly biased toward either the status quo or in total opposition to the status quo. There is are a lot of pseudo-academic texts out there, especially post-Katrina. This book isn't too overloaded with the Katrina/Sandy experience, presumably because it was originally published in 1991 (it has been well-updated since then for this edition). Smith presents a perspective that isn't biased toward either of the positions I mentioned. I won't agree with him on everything but this book does have a fresh perspective and even-handed approach. In a field defined by doom and gloom, Smith's text is insightful and refreshing.

Thanks for the books. They all came in great and earlier then I expected. I might have to buy some more books from you in the future.

The book hasn't revised despite the fact I ordered it a fair while ago before my exams.Extremely inconvenient for me.
