Cardo 45mm Audio Set, Works with Most Helmet Communicators (Single Pack), Black

We need to talk
I'm conflicted about this review. First, i own a Cardo Spirit HD headset (two of them actually) which comes with JBL speakers. They're 40mm, so a bit smaller than these.Cardo has an app to download firmware and control your headset.Like all motorcycle comms, the price was outrageous. I will never know why they're so expensive. It's bluetooth. And 2 speakers. You can do all that and more for 20 bucks. Want it in a helmet?Five thousand dollars.Anyway, the Cardo app has sound profiles that you can switch between like "bass boost" or "high volume".Except they don't work. They're THERE, but they're greyed out.How do you get access to them?Buy these speakers of course!99 dollar pay wall for audio access. With that said, these ARE an upgrade. Bigger drivers means better sound. It always has, and always will.Yes, paying another hundred bucks to get what you should've already got kinda sucks, but a helmet and comms will run you 6 million dollars nowadays, so what's another hundred right?TL;DR-Should be standard, but it's not. Absolutely worth the price. Better sound, higher volume, EQ controls unlocked.

Better Clarity and Volume even compared to the smaller JBLs!
I ordered these wondering if they’d even be much of an upgrade since I have a brand new Freecom 2X with the regular 40mm JBL speakers. I am actually blown away by the increase in clarity and volume I get out of these! These work fantastically and I’m excited to go for a ride with them and see how it compares because inside with no wind noise it sounds amazing. We shall see!

Nice
Might be slightly louder then 40mm. Hard to tell. But they work well came with extra set of foam covers

A bit fuller/richer/bassier/louder than the standard 40mm JBL-Cardo speakers
I bought a set of these 45mm JBL/Cardo speakers to try in a new LS2 helmet. I already have the Cardo Freecom 4x comm device that is equipped with the 40mm JBL speakers. The LS2 Drifter helmet comes with large speaker pockets that allowed these speakers to fit without modification. Compared to the 40mm JBL's, the 45mm's are a bit fuller and richer in sound, and that certainly makes a difference inside a helmet. The bass is also a touch heavier. They also play a touch louder at equal volume levels. Are they worth the extra cost? I bought a set of Used-Like New for $74, so I'm satisfied with the purchase and results.

Best Speakers All Around
Installed these speakers in my Simpson helmet and compared to the other speakers I’ve tried, this one has the best quality I’ve ever experienced. Especially important for me being as my bike is too loud so it easier to hear the music.

This could be an AMAZING product, *IF* Cardo changed a couple of things
First I'd like to say that I'm a big fan of this upgrade in theory. The licensing is a NIGHTMARE, and customer service at Cardo is kind of like waiting to see the dentist, on a hot summer day, standing on pavement with bare feet as far as how quickly your call will be answered. You can email, but better be extremely patient. If you ever think you may upgrade your packtalk or freecom, then beware. The licensing for the JBL upgrade is good for ONE device only. If like me, something happens to that one device, getting Cardo to give you a new QR code is PAINFUL. Get every serial number you can find. Write them down and then take photos of them. Also get your receipt for buying the unit. Then open a ticket with them and wait a day or two for them to email you back asking you for all these codes. Submit the email with the codes, a detailed description of what each of them are, and attach photos. At this point I called and was told they had received them, it would take a couple of minutes to review and I would get an email. That was 3 hours ago. I called back after getting an email , asking for everything I had already sent. Seriously?I explained to that person I needed a new QR code, that's it. They said I would hear back in a few minutes. I told them I was going riding and really wanted to get his resolved as the ticket had been open for days. I'ts now 4:40pm eastern time zone (I called at 4:00 as they said they were closing at 5:00 central time) The hold music is from an album I can only assume is called "Jazz to irritate the crap out of people waiting on hold so they hang up".Who ever the product manager is for the 45mm JBL headphones should be terminated. To tie the software to such a lengthy and painful process is a nightmare, want to know the easy choice? Buy ANOTHER 45mm JBL kit - even tho you don't need the hardware, just the QR code. I swear - if you need great sound, it might be easier to go to another brand, Cardo doesn't seem to staff their customer service appropriately or understand that a difficult process LOSES loyal customer, not keeps them.I've been with Cardo since the G4 was new. This is my first time using customer service, and I'd rather get a root canal. Seriously making me consider a SENA for the next headset. After 45 minutes on hold I finally got someone to answer the phone. I won't be able to get a new QR code until Tuesday now. The ticket was opened Thursday this week...
