Carpet Sliding
My cat is profoundly weird as it is possibly the only cat who doesn't go nuts over a laser pointer, so toys for him are a little hard to come by. But this toy is practically a worship object for him. He ADORES this thing. He goes crazy when I bring it out, and he has started to find all my hiding spots, so he drags it out all on his own to play with it. I make sure I pin it down with something heavy if I leave the room. This is a supervised toy. You'd think a stick with a string wouldn't be that fascinating, but when I slide it tantalizingly across the ground in agonizing slow motion, he literally can't stand it. Must. Attack. Now. He pounces so hard he invented carpet sliding. His record is about a foot. This is a great little toy, because it is made from soft (super soft) felt, so you don't have to feel bad if you whack your cat (or an innocent bystander). It's sort of like a whip, so this is bound to happen. Actually, my cat prefers to get hit in the face with it. It just slides over his head between his ears, and he flips over on his back in a frantic lunge. Must Bite. Must Chew. Must Annihilate! It's seriously adorable to watch. The plastic stick on the end is really light weight, so your arm doesn't get tired until about the hour mark. Extended playtime.Concerns about tangling and knotting can be cast aside. My cat enjoys getting tangled up in it and just laying down with it around him, but the felt slides. Just a little tug and the network of string he's created around his paws comes undone without any knotting. Again, though, this is a supervised toy. I would not recommend leaving your cat alone with it. It is hard to get tangled permanently because of the slipping felt (a great, great feature), but there is the chance (however remote) it can wrap around the cat's neck. So if you let him play with it by himself just keep a close eye.The only problem I have found is my cat has all of his claws, so occasionally he snags one of them in the fabric. The problem fixes itself, though, because of the sturdiness of the felt. It is a tight, sturdy material, so there's no fraying to make the snag permanent. When snagging does happen, my cat has figured out he's just digging in too hard, so he lets go. Nothing actually gets stuck stuck, just caught for a split second. Not only is the felt sturdy, but so is the stick it's attached to. The string is attached with a rubber cover piece, and my cat has yanked on it for all he's worth. The thing hasn't budged. This toy is going to last for a long time. All in all, it is amazing and totally worth the price. A must buy for any cat owner. You will get hours of entertainment.

Best toy I've purchased... for both my cat AND my dog.
So the first time I purchased this cat charmer a couple of years ago, it was for my cat. It worked awesome then and now, even though he's a pretty lazy disinterested adult cat, it is one of the only toys I've purchased for him that will still engage him. He used to really run back and forth and chase it back in the day, and even though now he's gotten fatter and lazier, he'll still try and catch it with his paws and mouth while lying on his back. He'll occasionally even run after it. Other toys I've bought for him that have a shorter tassel don't interest him ---I like that the tassel on this toy is really long, cause it really gives him something to chase. But the main reason I'm writing this review is actually because of my dog. Almost a year ago I got a pomeranian puppy (approx 7 lbs) , and this toy is his FAVORITE toy. He will chase this endlessly without losing interest for literally 30 minutes before he gets too exhausted to run anymore. I'm not home nearly enough, and he is the most hyper and energetic dog I've ever met (maybe partly because he's still a puppy). So this toy is the best invention ever for those days when I get home from work late and i'm exhausted and don't have the energy to play with him long enough to tire him out. And since it just requires your arm, it's a lot less physically exhausting than running with him (I would have to be Usain Bolt to have the speed and stamina to keep up with him). It's a great length, and I like that the felt/plush material is soft so it doesn't hurt him if it hits him on accident. It seems to be very well made, and very affordable too.*note: I will say that I have gone through at least 6 of these since getting my dog, but I don't think its a reflection of the toy's quality-- it's more because my dog will chew through the material (separating the plastic wand part from the tassel/toy part) in 5 minutes if he is able to grab the toy from me and I take my eye off of him for just a few minutes (And my puppy chews through anything and everything). I've never had an issue with the durability with this with my cat. But it has been a lifesaver for me (a first time puppy-owner) and my puppy really loves this toy more than any of the 300 other toys I've used to play with him, which is why I have repeatedly purchased this item and will likely continue to repurchase it indefinitely. So anyway, this review was probably totally irrelevant and unhelpful to most of the people reading reviews (ie cat owners) for this toy, but bottom line: this toy works great for my cat, as well as for my dog. If you have a lazy cat like me, you should buy this. If you have a small (<10lbs) hyper dog that doesn't get discouraged by seemingly impossible to "win" games that involve endlessly chasing things, then you really should buy this toy.

Best cat toy ever!
When I received it, my first thought was that I could have made it. Actually, I could not have made it nearly as well. The cloth used is nearly indestructible. My cats try very hard, but cannot make a dent. It is hands down their favorite toy.My only small complaint is that the wand could be longer. My guys can get fairly aggressive when playing and I would prefer my hand further away. Bottom line, your cat/cats will love it!

The ultimate toy for a very picky kitty
We have a new 8 month old Maine Coon kitten. He's a REALLY mellow fellow--purrs just when you look at him. This said, it's been difficult to find toys that engage him. The wand with worm or feathers works well. The remote controlled feather under the cloth, so-so. Nothing else with strong reviews worked: not the inexpensive springy toys, sisal chews, catnip mouse, electronic ball with tail (that scares him), flapping bird, nothing! Then this toy arrived and he lost his mind--to the point of panting, so I had to give him a break. I don't know if it will last with a Maine Coon. It says good up to 30lbs. We'll see. But it's definitely his favorite toy and, luckily for us, inexpensive!

Fav toy but potential danger
My cats fav toy. Always soooo excited when she play with it. Downside is the material will get stuck on her tongue. I’m kinda worried if she would accidentally eat it
