Pioneer car speakers just keep getting better!
I installed these in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The doors have 6x9 openings but in order to use these Pioneers I had to use the factory spacers between the door panel and these speakers. Also, these speakers are like none I've ever seen or hear for a vehicle. They have an outboard capacitor and coil located near the + and - connectors, so I was sure to place the speakers into the door panel with those components facing "up" and not down for fear they may protrude and make contact with the window mechanism. I prepped my interior door frames by using "Peel and Seal" which is a product sold by Lowes and is the same thing as Dynamat at a fraction of the cost. It's sold in rolls of 6" x 25' for a mere $15. I bought two rolls and one roll of aluminum tape which I used to cover any seams. Total cost was $35 and I have plenty left over! Had I used Dynamat I would have spend well over $100. Back to the project, after test fitting the speakers and making sure the wire harness adapter I bought from Amazon worked and was tucked in out of the way of any moving parts (I insulated the plastic connector with some pipe cover foam and wire ties to insure against rattles) I did the final speaker install and tested them for sound and rolled the window up and down to be sure I had clearance. Note: to anyone who wants to use either Dynamat or Peel and Seal, be sure you cut out all the openings for the interior trim panels to fit back on properly. This is an important step to to before you even put the speakers in the doors. I test fitted both interior panels and had to trim away some excess around the holes to allow for the interior panels to seat properly. End result is AMAZING! I was able to take a nice long ride yesterday and was absolutely blown away by these speakers. No need for any subwoofer as these things have all the base you could ask for, the speakers are clear, crisp and create a soundstage the likes I've never heard in any vehilce. I'm driving them with the factory issued Chrysler corp head unit (am/fm/6 cd changer) which has more than enough power to drive these speakers without even a hint of clipping. Of note: my Dodge came with a basic 4 speaker system. Two 6x9's in the doors and two 5 1/4" speakers behind the seats in the back panels. I didn't bother to change those since they are basically firing against the seats upholstery and are partially blocked by anything I store back there. What I may do in the future is install a set up 3 1/2" speakers in the upper dash (the cutouts are already there under the panel) and to hook them into the head unit, I'll disconnect the useless back panel speakers and wire the lead from the head unit directly to the new dash speakers (there is no wiring from the factory but it wouldn't take much to run the wiring from the head unit's harness. At present I am very very pleased with these Pioneer TS-D690R's. I actually found them on Crxxtchfxxld's website for $179 pair but when I checked Amazon's price of $83 prime it was a no brainer. If you are looking for one of the best 6x9 speakers out there, get these, you won't be sorry.

Best 6x9 speakers you can find without breaking the bank
I had some Rockford Fosgate 6x9's on the rear deck of 2003 Accord, that I had purchased to replace the stock ones when I bought the car, but they lacked punch. I had replaced the door speakers with some Infinity 6.5" but they lacked anything beyond upper midrange. I did some research and bought some Pioneer TS-D1602R 6.5" for the door and was blown away with how awesome they sounded. Even without an amp, the majority of the low end was now coming from my door, and not the RF's on the rear deck. I immediately purchased these 6x9's and I've never regretted it.They sound incredible, the highs are clear and crisp, the mid-range isn't muddled, and there is an amazing amount of bass to come out of these, even without an amp. I considered adding a 10" sub in the trunk, just for that little added bit, but these more than suffice for what I want out of my car stereo. I'm not a teenager anymore, I don't need to rattle doors, but I still want to feel the kick drum when I'm in my car, and these are a killer pair, especially for the price.

Did some research and sought guidance from Best Buy tech's and others and decided these 2 way ...
1980 Jeep CJ7 with the black molded aftermarket speaker boxes that mount at the base of the roll bar and rear floor area. Had my Kenwood stereo hooked up to 6 X 9 three way speakers. There was absolutely no bass, all "tinny" sound with no adjustability. Did some research and sought guidance from Best Buy tech's and others and decided these 2 way speakers were the way to go. I had actually purchased an amp but decided against it due to installation issues/locations in the Jeep. Don't need or want an intersection boomer at my age. As mentioned in virtually every review, these speakers are nothing short of awesome. Immediately obtained the sound quality I had been lacking. Unbelievable difference between the 2 and 3 way. For you Jeep guys with those boxes, the large magnets (also described in several reviews) would not fit. I used the other speaker's mounting ring as a spacer and it worked perfectly. Thank God for standardized hole patterns. I don't think you can go wrong with these. Great sound and adjustable to your ear.

nice speakers
I always wanted to try these and i paired them with pioneer ts-d1730c up front. these are in the rear deck and they get low. I am very impressed with the lower range of these speakers. the magnet is huge and there is a decently beefy cross-over on the speaker. so my only gripe with this speaker is the lack of mid range. yes it's a two way - i get that, but there is good low end and then almost sibilant highs. it's not unpleasant, but as another reviewer claims it takes some eq work to get it right. If you listen to rap and electronic where there isn't much mid-range and still has deep lows - and you don't have a sub - this is a very good speaker. It's not the best out there in this price range, but it's very good.

Nice car speakers
The pioneer ts-d6902r two way sound great but you got to run an amp to them for best sound of them and I have the ts-d1320c 5.25 for the front and everything sounds real super clear and clean. As for the highs very nice 6-9 and the price is good for what you are getting running a eclipse 4 channel ea4100 75watts each channel for my subs pioneer 12 s and power bass ext 3000 watts but going to up grade to massive audio toro 12s soon waiting for them then should be done of what I to do with my system o for my unit boss DVD bv9986bi

Good rating for shipper but not
Was here a day ahead of time, thanks guys! Pioneers specs don't match up with what I have measured. The measured fs on these 6x9 are in the high 50hz, not the 28hz Pioneer specs them at. I did run 40 hz test tone through them for about a half hour and measured again, it dropped another two hz, but again not what Pioneer specs . Good rating for shipper but not Pioneer
