Perfect under sink water filter … easy to install and easy to flush … of note: prior to flushing kitchen faucet line it’s important to unscrew and remove kitchen faucet head before flushing kitchen line so impurities fished out don’t clog up the kitchen faucet head … after kitchen line flushed and water running clear can reattach kitchen faucet’s head!

I installed this filter in during my kitchen remodel in 2006. It is inline with the main cold water tap that goes to the faucet and insta-hot dispenser. It provides quality filtered water for any purpose at the sink. If you are drinking it, it is filtered. Over the years I've replaced this filter with it's current replacement model about once every year and a half. It's quick and easy. No need to turn off stop valves or disconnect lines. Just quarter turn on the pressurized line and it pops right off. Same in reverse for new filter and purge for a few minutes. I don't think it drips more than two trips while removing.

THis cost less than buying it from a plumber or supply house. I am glad that it was available.

Replacement for home water filter...

This item was bought, my second purchase of this filter. It seemed to have a fault as black particles (charcoal?) was present in the water when the pipe was turned on. I let it flow to see if it would run clear. It ended up clogging up the entire pipe, until no water flowed. I had to call my brother assist. We ended up having to replace the entire pipe with a different filter. This ended up costing me over $130 to replace the pipe and to buy a new filter.

Well, these are expensive. So, it was troubling to have one start leaking 3 days after installation. I checked the water pressure. No problem there, I checked the fitting. No problem there. But it leaked, a slow drop. I had bought 2 at the same time. And the second was fine. No leak (now after 1 month). So, I can only assume there was some imperfection in manufacture that caused the leak. Perhaps the seal ring was not perfect. But hard to see visually. And, as I say, an expensive failure. But, to end on a positive note: when working properly, this filter is perfectly fine. There is a good water throughput so you can fill a glass or kettle quickly. And the water tastes (and looks) fine.
