Perfect / Secure
I bought a cheaper case from a different manufacturer first that explicitly stated "The Cabela's Armor Xtreme Molded Pistol Case has been modified so that the hinge pins cannot be removed when the case is closed." When it arrived this was not true and the hinge pins could be easily pushed out, while closed/locked, with a paper clip. That makes that case completely useless for secure airline travel.I learned my lesson and bought this Pelican like I should have done in the first place. This Pelican case arrived yesterday and it is perfect. The hinges use a one way pin that is difficult to remove without time/tools and the case closes and locks securely. This size is a bit large for transporting a single full frame handgun but I wanted the option of storing one handgun, three mags, and two boxes of ammunition (check your airline regulations) or two full frame handguns with magazines. The 1400 fits a full size M&P9, three magazines, and two 20 round boxes of ammunition with plenty of padding to spare... probably enough to include a light. If you want to go smaller, the 1200 will fit a full frame with two mags nicely but with no room for ammunition.FYI : A 38mm padlock was the sweet spot for the size that would lock this case but with as little wiggle room as possible. When locked, attempting to open the case will only allow it to open a few millimeters - only exposing the inner ridge of the case. So, no worries about anyone trying to pull something small out through the crack.I'm sold on Pelican from now on.

BIG case, but great for DSLR / full frame mirrorless cameras or lenses
Picture notes: the stack and side by side are 1150, iM2050 and 1400 (smallest to largest), then the 1400 with Sony A9 and 24-70/2.8 & 70-200/2.8 GM lenses, finally, the wonderful Dakine Mission Pro 25L, which will just barely swallow this Pelican 1400 case, your ski goggles, and some lunch if you eat light. On to the review. I would not exactly call this case 'small', but if you're needing to travel with a full frame camera or some lenses, and don't need a big roller, this is a great option. I have what is arguably the largest option Pelican makes that you can carry on a plane without risk, the AIR 1535, but I don't always need to carry my whole setup. Sometimes I'm content to stick my primary body (Sony A9) in my bag and take a few lenses, and this case fits that bill great. My pics are mostly to give you a view of the size; ultimately I didn't really like the pick and pluck foam fit, so ordered custom from mycasebuilder. I'll try to get some more recent pics with that installed, but you get the idea. The case's inner dimensions are large enough to adequately protect two big lenses, or a body and big lens, some batteries, etc.

Perfect
This is actually my second Pelican case. I bought this specifically to travel on planes with my Glock 19. To ease everything, not only do I have the gun unloaded but I keep the slide locked back and put a chamber flag in it. This is especially good because I leave one empty magazine in the gun so this insures safety because the gun can't physically fire with the slide locked back and a chamber flag in it so it eases tensions. The case is deep enough that I can stack two magazines in the same spot. There is also enough room for a suppressor (if I'm traveling somewhere that allows them). This thing is durable. You can throw it, kick it, hit things with it and it will hold up. You can spray with a hose, throw it in the pool, etc, and it will protect your stuff. This means that it will survive molestation when it's in your checked luggage and they are literally throwing it into a pile with other checked luggage. The holes on the outside are large enough for a wide variety of TSA approved locks. I have absolutely no complaints about this case.

Plan before you pluck!
This Pelican 1400 was perfect for my Nikon D7500, extra lens, and accessories. A word of warning: Once you pluck the foam, you can’t put it back in securely. Make sure to carefully plan where you intend to place your camera (or whatever you’re using the case for) before you start plucking foam from the case. Pelican sells replacement foam, but it isn’t cheap.

Glocks and the mags...
So this is a pelican and obviously sturdy. The pick and pluck foam is very easy to mold to your liking. If you need to add height to something for asthetics, just insert some plucked foam underneath the item you are securing to elevate it.I can’t believe I just secured 3 Glocks and their respective extra mags with room for accessories, ammo or another firearm in this case. For those wondering about roominess inside for firearms; I have a Glock 21, 19 and 30sf with rail laser (top to bottom in the pic respectively) with two rows of the foam between each, and the mags spaced nicely near each one. Each one in the photo actually has a mag in it raising it up some so if you want it lower it will go down further without the mag in.This case would also make storing GoPros and other camera accessories a breeze. Carrying it on an adventure might not be as easy but I have a waterproof book bag for that. If you’re looking for storage that you can lock; I can highly recommend the Pelican.

Pelican cases are well-made and always perform as expected. This one is no exception- I highly recommend it.
