I’ve only had this book for a few days, and my baby isn’t due for a few more months, but I can already say this is truly a gem. I wish I’d had it 14 years ago when I was young and giving birth to my oldest. Back then, I relied on far too much medical intervention simply because I didn’t know any better. This book could have saved me so much stress and uncertainty.When I was pregnant with my youngest, I had a partially unassisted pregnancy and planned for a free birth. However, fear took over when I was 36w6d. If I’d had this book five years ago, it would have answered every fear that crossed my mind and given me the confidence to follow through.Even if free birthing isn’t part of your birth plan, I still recommend reading this. It’s a fantastic resource to help you clear mental clutter, feel more secure, and trust your body and baby to do what they were made to do.

I purchased this book a little over a month before giving birth at home with my husband and my two sleeping daughters ages 5 and 4. Heather has compiled a careers worth of information in a way that is digestible, funny and intimate, both my husband and I felt completely at ease and well informed after reading this over a few times, I even book marked important information to reference in case of emergency (not that we even needed to look during labor because we knew what was up!) In a way this book makes me wish I knew her and though my heart is set on future freebirths I think she would make an amazing midwife to have by your side during birth. Thank you Heather Baker! Your journey as a mother and midwife has inspired this natural birth lover, I already planned on becoming a birth doula but I am so much more interested in how far I can really go.

This book is filled with valuable information for any woman who wants to empower herself with the knowledge and courage to give birth the natural way. The author is straightforward, honest, and knowledgeable. This book is a gem. You'll buy it for yourself and keep it for your daughters and granddaughters.

I really love how this book is easy to understand and apply to your pregnancy/birth. Giving real life positive experiences without fear mongering is huge for the birth world. I had some questions about breech babies and this book addressed them as well as what to do in case of an actual emergencies. Heather gives the herbs/tinctures needed in case of hemorrhaging etc. Super helpful to have all the tools in one book. I’m personally not a huge fan of the real life photos as I don’t want my husband seeing other breasts/vaginas, but I understand many learn best by seeing visuals. I just covered the “explicit” photos with paper. ;) My personal preference on this matter doesn’t affect that I still rate this as a five star book! Grateful for the wealth of information shared! :)

Absolutely the best! Got a physical copy and audible copy for my husband for my 5th Homebirth, 1st unassisted. So glad I did. I was able to address my husband's concerns and my mom's fears and I knew what to do and watch for when my water broke and had meconium in it. Baby was born with no issues, i was able to monitor him and know what problems to look out for. Because of the knowledge I gained from this book, I was able to labor without fear and have an amazing birth experience. I highly recommend this book regardless of where you are having your baby (home, birth center, hospital) or what kind of care provider you've chosen (midwife, OB, yourself). Birth is a lot less scary when you educate yourself and have a better idea of what to expect

Last year when I got pregnant, I had an overwhelming desire to have a simple, natural, unmediated birth at home. Though I already have two children, both of their births were at a hospital with many interventions. 😔As I began researching birth options and openly talked with friends about the (radical) idea of having an unassisted birth 🙃, a friend advised me to GO AND READ THIS BOOK.😅🙌Though I had already read several home birth books and had done extensive online research, THIS BOOK completely changed the way I decided to give birth!!! 🙌💗🙌Due to so much of what I read and gleaned from these pages, I began to feel confident that I could truly give birth naturally, in my home, safely.This book covered countless topics that seemed impossible to find online or in other birthing books. The knowledge shared about potentially hemorrhaging, the baby getting stuck, examining the baby and placenta once it was birthed were just a few of the topics that I truly found invaluable!!!After reading this book, I felt extremely confident about having a free birth at home!!!On April 4th, I gave birth with my husband, two children, sister, two nieces and a friend surrounding me.It was an unbelievably beautiful and joyful experience. I cannot imagine ever giving birth in a different way.Since having Baby, I have thought many times that Heather, the author, deserve a portion of credit for how well my birth went. ☺️I truly appreciate how helpful, informative and encouraging this book was!Prior to reading this, I was hopeful but a bit apprehensive about free birthing. However, once I finished this book, that is SO LOADED with priceless information, I knew more than I could have ever imagined knowing about birth.I am truly grateful for this treasure of a book!
