I’ve graduated to this ‘pro’ picker after my cheap flimsy one broke on its 10th outing. This one is a superior picker for use clearing my neighbourhood.I have a friend who, after 35 years of council work sweeping streets, retired last week. It was he who taught me that the duty to maintain my standards and pride in where I live are my responsibility, not the council’s. Even if I think otherwise, the rubbish still needs moving.So, I clear my neighbourhood…for me, and I need the right tools for the job. This picker is excellent at the task it was designed for.Design———This picker is of the single moving digit type. That’s to say it isn’t a pincer. So, you can position the fixed digit by the item to pick up and, closing the trigger, draw the moving digit towards it to pick up. This simple design feature ensures you have a very precise and easy to use device. I like the trigger too as it’s easy to grip and operate. I should think if I had arthritis, this would be easy to use.Adjustability---------------A great feature of this picker is that the gripper can be tightened by simply pulling the cord at the picker end. The cord is secured by a simple locking groove and ball. This design means that it is also possible to easily replace the cord, should it break.Length———-It matters! I was using a 75cm picker which required me to bend or stoop every single time. I was returning home with back ache (I have arthritis in my lower back). This model is 85cm long and I can easily pick up very small items or full soft drink bottle with out stopping at all. Additionally, I now appreciate that a longer reach allows me to pick up litter as I'm walking towards it, making litter picking quicker to complete as I don't stop as much.Material————The material used in its construction is, whilst very sturdy, extremely light. The grip is generous and so comfortable in the hand. After a session of using it, I had no sores on my hand or aches in my fingers so this must be a good thing.Summary————-A very light, long, and study picker which is very comfortable to use and doesn’t stress my back. It can easily pick up very small pieces of paper or 500ml full drink bottles. I love it…as much as one can love an instrument they bought out of their own money to do a job to compensate for the laziness and thoughtlessness of others, but that’s life.

I first bought these back in May 2019 and use them daily in my work.I'm in property maintenance and I've put these litter pickers through hell and back in all conditions and they have refused to give in.No matter what I've lifted with them, bottles, bricks, general debris etc, they've just coped with ease.They've been slung about in the back of my van, been trampled on, gotten soaking wet yet they still carried on.My only regret was losing them!....After over three years loyal service under a daily tough regime, I left them behind on a job somewhere and can't remember where....I was gutted. They really did become part of my family of tools that I use daily and have come to rely on.So, within ten minutes of realising that there was no hope of finding them again, I got straight on to Amazon....And ordered another pair.They arrived in two days, well packaged and boxed and in excellent condition.My working life is complete again although I will miss my old, loyal friend.These new pickers have got some big shoes to fill!...Although I'm confident that they will also be up to the job if their predecessor is anything to go by!...10 out of 10 all round.

Very useful for picking items from the floor to save me bending down following an operation
