Comfort is Well Worth The Money
So prior to my ROHO purchase, I've used a thick memory foam cushion at my home and office computer. Because of a medical condition, I lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle but I'm still able to get up and move around my house, go to the store, etc. Then I fell and broke my femur and went to a rehab facility for 2 weeks. After a couple days mostly sitting in a wheelchair, I developed a pressure sore and they provided the ROHO cushion that I ended up purchasing. The ROHO, coupled with Calmoseptine ointment healed the sore. When I came home, we had to spend a bit of money on adjustments to our house to get me situated, so I thought I could get by with just pillows or the foam cushion on my wheelchair. (I did snap a picture of the tag from the ROHO model at rehab just in case.) I was so uncomfortable and so wrong! I bought the ROHO and it came quickly via Amazon so I didn't have to be in pain for much longer. When it arrived, my husband inflated it and I sat down and "thought" because I was sitting on literally...air...that it would be fine. After a couple days, I was still uncomfortable - not as much as before - but couldn't tell if the cushion had the same feel as in rehab. Day by day, I let a little more air out so it actually sunk in a bit, and I feel it's even better than in rehab. You will have to adjust it to what feels best for you! I am working 60 hours a week sitting at my computer and more time in my wheelchair cooking (I am still progressing slowly and not 100% recovered yet) BUT no pressure sores or discomfort. Best of all, ROHO is made in the USA, as I have been trying to contribute to our country's livelihood more than ever. I know I was lucky to have "test-driven" this cushion before purchasing, but in my situation, it was a lifesaver.

Best cushion I've ever used.
I"ve dealt with the problem of pressure sores my whole life; born paraplegic and in and out of chairs all my life. Now in last 5 years, permanently confined. This is the BEST cushion I have ever used. and to me worth the cost. Other air filled and gel filled cushions worked okay, but still always had sores once in a while. Having the 4" height really helps, as I am 180 lbs so really need those 4" to allow enough space to let out enough air so that I really sit IN the cushion, not on it. With less than 4", by the time you get it soft enough to sink comfortably into, your butt is touching the seat top underneath the cushion. Sadly, most insurances won't cover, including Medicare, because it is considered 'luxury' item due to price. Yet, if you get a pressure sore, the insurance company will pay far more in medical costs to treat the sores, instead of paying for the cushion and preventing them in the first place. Sigh...Before you buy, go to the ROHO site, there are many variations of this basic design, do your research. There are multi chamber, recessed, inclined, bi-lateral versions, and different dimensions. Your needs may require a different design, and don't skimp, get the fitted slip cover. It keeps the air bladders from 'spreading' out. The sores I had for months on my butt prior to getting this cushion on the recommendation of my therapist, healed within two weeks. And since then have had NO pressure sores develop. It's an investment in your health; if you can afford it, get a ROHO.

Very comfortable, but smelly
I ordered this to replace the extremely uncomfortable seat cushion that came w/my wheelchair. The one complaint I have is that it has a very strong rubber smell (that permeates anything that's put on it), but the discomfort I have w/o it trumps the smell. I've had early-onset arthritis since my 20s, along w/many surgeries, starting @the age of 2. My left hip has been replaced twice, of which both became infected, so the hardware was removed the 2nd time, & never replaced. My right hip is bone-on-bone, & cannot bare weight for more than a few seconds. I used to be forced to tilt my chair back, multiple times throughout the day, due to the pain & spasms I had from sitting. This takes the pressure off, so I'm easily able to balance well, despite having no hip joint. My previous Roho was larger, but since there was only one size offered, I had to hope for the best. I am plus-sized (5' 2", 200#), but I've lost weight since using the 1st one, so this ended up being fine. I can't even express my happiness at being able to sit upright in my chair for longer periods of time!

Me--I'm snake-bit!
This the 2nd of two Roho cushions I purchased in the past few days and this new one has the same valve problem i.e. the valve turns to open and let you pump air into the cushion but will then refuses to close, allowing the air to slowly leak out. For this kind of money one should not have to deal with this valve problem, One valve, OK, maybe----but 2 in a row? Wise up Roho. A lot of money for a lot of trouble. I cant send it back as I don't have the money for a new one---AGAIN!!!! Besides. I have to have something to sit on even if I have to pump it back up every few minutes or so.I am in a quandary of great proportions! I guess this is what happens when you have "cornered the market", ---I'm just sayin'This is a retraction of the above statement with full apologies to Roho! This morning, out of sheer desperation, I took a pair of pliers and gave the valve in question one last "tweak" (rather a violent twist!) and whatever was preventing the valve from operating as it should was either dislodged or snapped, freeing the valve. Once again, my apologies to Roho, The cushion itself was never the issue, simply a stuck valve. Now I have my comfortable seat back and am as happy as a clam! (Do clams get happy?) Sorry 'bout that!
