USB External Portable CD DVD +R/-R/RW Super Drive, White MD-9102

Plug and play on daughters 2014 Apple air lap top. She plugged it in, and recognized the drivers and loaded and away she went. works fine for significantly less than the Apple one, money saved, very happy.

Great looking and small, but doesn't work on my notebook w/Windows 8.1

So far so good. It works well with my 13" Macbook air. I did have an issue where my first order never delivered, so watch carefully for delivery.(1) The player seems very fragile. I am extremely delicate with it because I feel like the slightest impact could break it. On the other hand, I have never had an external drive so that could be the norm for their design, and is very light so easily portable.(2) The USB cord is very short and has three different ends, like a "Y" design. I need to connect it to two different ports, one for power, and one for playback. Because of the design on the Macbook air, I have to stretch the one end of the cord across the keyboard to reach the second USB. UPDATE: I did ask a question and apparently both do not need to be connected to use.(3) I have tested the DVD's that I need to use in school and playback is very smooth.Overall, I think that with this being one of the cheaper external drives compatible with a mac, it meets the goal, which is reliable DVD playback. I would change the design of the USB cords that come with the product. I will probably only use this for 18 months, so if I am careful with it and it lasts that long, I will be satisfied.

Piece of crap, does not read dvd's. It only reads documents. Took it to a buddy of mine who works at a computer shop, even he couldn't figure it out. Recommend spending a little more money a get something better.

It works on my Mac fine , if the DVD player isn't being used you can't eject it you have to do it by hand. It's feels and looks very fragile. So must be super careful. You get what you paid for.

It worked right out of the box with my 2014 MacBook Pro - no software installation necessary. I used it to burn my workout DVDs to my Mac so that I can workout when I am traveling. I should note that I could just as easily carry the External Drive with me, since it is so light, compact, and it plays the DVD right away with no issues.Word of Warning: The cable comes with two USB inputs that you are supposed to plug into your laptop to power the device. My 13-in MacBook Pro has one USB port on each side, and the cable barely made it to both sides. I had no issues with it, but I do not know how this would affect a wider laptop.

Works great on trips

My old one I bought 5 years ago still functions great, but the power / data jack got lose after all the years. I picked up new one with the new pwer / data connection & it also works great.
