The Tascam TA-1VP Rackmount Vocal Producer Processor, co-developed with Antares, is a comprehensive vocal processing solution designed for both studio and live environments. It features a high-quality mic preamp, compression, de-essing, and advanced Auto-Tune pitch correction, making it ideal for modern vocal production.

Excellent auto tune
Needed a unit to be a rackmount in my studio and this is the only rackmount tuner . I do the vocal track w/o using the unit, then run the recorded track through the unit so I can experiment with settings. I don't need the mic simulator or compressor. The layout is very logical not as complex as other reviews would have you believe. The mic preamp is a bit noisy but doesn't affect my use since I use the line input. As I get older my pitch is not as accurate and this unit fixes that in a natural sounding way. You choose the key and it shows the notes in the either major or minor scale that it will tuned to, if your melody has a note not in the scale you can simply turn of the autotune on the fly for that note and turn it back on after that. I does what I expected it to do and am happy. As other reviewers have said, the effect is subtle so it can't make a poor voice into a great voice. I recommend it for studio applications.

Nice upgrade to home studio's or live gigs.
Simplicity, pick your preset, tweak it, leave it or set your own. It won't make you sing better, but if you can sing it will make you sound better, when you sound better you sing with confidence. The tube saturation can add that raspy voice effect or add just enough warmth to the vocals while the Mic Modeling makes slight adjustments to the sound, so whether you like it crisp, more mid-range or warmth you'll find it and have your vocals stand out in the mix. Blue's Spark, Rode NT1 and the Shure SM7B all sound real good through the TA 1VP, even the standard SM58 sounds good through the TA-1VP.The Antares auto-tune works much more efficiently than TC Helicons voice correct (in my opinion). I upgraded from the TC auto-tune correct and though you can't control the TA-1VP like the TC floor pedals I found I didn't need that control at my feet and left the TC on most of the time any. Tascam and Antares make a good marriage with auto-tune and mic modeling. I have the ability to alter and polish my vocal sounds to fit my song styles, without breaking the budget. Its one of the better choices I've made for my home studio.

Good vocal and instrument processor, less EQ control and computer connectivity than I desired
I got this unit to help my C+ quality voice during home recording funtime. It's a well made unit that is easy to use after a few trips through the instruction manual. It has a learning curve as would be expected, and the manual is not crystal clear in some instances. But trial and error has resolved my questions so far, and it's been fun getting the unit to do what I want it to do.I didn't expect miracles out of the pitch correction feature, and I wasn't disappointed; I still don't sound as well as I would like. But I do find a substantial improvement as compared to the vocals I have recorded directly into my Tascam DP-32SD. The mic simulations are useful, as is the proximity adjustment. I also make heavy use of the compressor and deesser features; those two have some interaction, and getting the relative settings correct is not a trivial task. The manual could have been better in this regard, but I have found (and saved) settings that work well enough for me.My main disappointment is the limited EQ built into the unit. Each preset has 2 EQ settings. The type of EQ for each can be chosen from a list and set individually. But there is no simple three band parametric, or graphic, equalizer as I would have expected. The two available EQ's can be set to simulate a 2 band parametric, but I find that inconvenient. I would much prefer an 8 or 10 band graphic, or a 3-4 band para. I am sure the unit is inherently capable of this, but it's not an option in the unit I received. The device is certainly based on a processor and firmware, but I don't see any option for a firmware upgrade (as with the DP32SD recorder, which I have upgraded). This lack of upgrade may turn out to be a problem in the future if bugs in the firmware pop up.The unit has plenty of presets, but I don't think they can be saved to an external device (such as a notebook computer) via the midi interface. Perhaps there is software that can do this, but I haven't yet found it. So I am careful when saving a preset to make sure I don't inadvertently overwrite a preset that took days to develop. There are too many settings to simply write them down; a PC-based program that connected via Midi would be a huge improvement in utility for this device. Even better (for me) would be a USB connection, but that is not an option at this time.I have tried recording direct via the TA-1VP, and also by recording first to the 32SD and then post-processing through the TA-1VP. Both methods work well, although there is an inevitable loss of quality caused by the added A/D and D/A conversions of the post-process method.I also use the TA-1VP for some guitar recording, and all bass recording. This was an unexpected benefit. So I am very pleased with the vocal/sound processor, but wished it had better features for EQ and computer connectivity.

OMG. Best thing EVER!
This is the most natural sounding auto-tuner I've ever used. Subtle but accurate. User interface takes a little getting used to but well worth it. Highly recommended.

Produces a "hiss" in speakers
Set this unit up in a rack mounted mobile karaoke rig with Yamaha MG12XU mixer, sennheiser wireless EW-D 835s mic, Bose L1 Pro 16 speaker system and followed directions carefully. No matter how I set this up, I get a "hiss" out of the speakers. Use the system without the Tascam, it's crystal clear. So frustrated cause I really wanted this to work. The bose L1 paired with the Sennheiser e835s sounds phenomenal, but the tascams hiss kills the clarity.

Having trouble understanding all the features....
This is menu driven setup that takes finese. You can't just plug it in and figure it out, and since I bought this soley for the purpose of autotuning my voice, I am not yet sure how to set this up yet. I am not a fast learner, but the unit seems well built and solid.

broke within 2 months and amazon won't take any responsibility
extremely loud white noise coming out of this unit, and amazon said after the return period they won't do anything about it.
