The media could not be loaded. Quality and precision , What you would expect from a rigid tool. So far I found that it has been accurate to within 1' of sender transmitter. Excellent product for finding septics! After using cheap Chinese knockoffs this one is amazing and well worth the price. Skip the cheaper quality ones and pay the extra for this item - you won’t regret it!

I have only had the scout for a year and a half. It has ceased to work appropriately . It's no longer able to pick up the hertz signal . The instrument panel puts every signal imaginable on the display sporadically as if the internal computer may be defective . The Ridgid company has requested me to return the product for repairs After only using this device maybe six times . It looks like it's never been used . As one of my tools that that makes my job easier by having .It is truly a major inconvenience to send it off .I got it back and tried to use it and it once again messed up after 10 minutes of use. Customer service is not easy to work with and they are not friendly at all. I would not recommend buying anything from this company especially because of their customer service. I am not stuck with a $1400 tool that does not work and is very difficult to get the warranty work to done. It took so long to get my tool back because they "lost my tool over the holiday".

I just purchased recently and used it the next day on a job and it worked as advertised. I viewed an instructional video by Ridgid online to clarify proper operation. I went to a second job a week later and after turning on the device and sweeping in the circular arc to locate the direction of the sonde, the icons on the LCD were going crazy and bouncing all over the place, i.e. not stabilized at all! I had to use my cheaper analog locator to locate the sonde. Once I located the vicinity, I used the Scout and it seemed to calm down. I'm not sure if this is normal operation or not. I need to consult Ridgid.Also: The included batteries were open in the box after delivery and arrived dead!!! It cost me an additional $10 to replace!!!!
